As stated in a previously closed thread (it was closed because all of the peeps with EVO's that are better than mine wanted to offer me their condolences).

My EVO is suffering from the same defects that Engadget, BGR, Gizmo, and other various tech sites are reporting.

1)Separating screen
2)Bad earpiece [hardware, not software]
3)Scratched camera lens [glass is not harder than everything]

Now..please..please if your EVO is still perfect (still being the operative word) than great. Congrats!! Go to a thread were everyone is lollipops and ice cream and figure out what awesome thing you are going to do on your EVO next.

But, if you are like me and feel like HTC is leaving us in the dark on how widespread and serious this issue is...and that this is affecting a whole lot of phones. Join in.....

I for one, feel like this is faulty workmanship and that they will likely be forced to replace the entire first shipment. So a return is futile.

The only way we will get new properly constructed phones is to bombard HTC and Sprint with our complaints. But please whatever you do....do not switch to an Iphone.

Again, if your EVO is currently doing back flips while streaming the World Cup (like Lamberts) then please don't feel compelled to rub it in our face.

Thanks A Ton.

I, for one, appreciate these posts to offer balance to the overly optimistic reviews. I haven't bought my evo yet because I'm waiting for the first batch launch bugs to be worked out. Happens with every new phone launch (still have my launch pre so I know what I'm talking about). You'll probably get flamed but I appreciate the effort and hopefully I'll reap the rewards.

I'm perfectly fine with them also. I find it funny when pointing out a problem the OPs of some threads (not this one of course....some "other" thread) make it seem like the sky is falling and HTC is out to make them cry.

You keep saying it is a wide spread issue and it will certainly happen to all or most of the phones, but in fact no one knows how many phones are affective and if indeed the problem will carry over to others.

I do think anyone with the problem should report it to HTC and Sprint so the defect (s) can be noted..

I just read a few forums searching the problem and it really does not look like a big issue based on reading this and other forums.

In fact a lot of people are checking and don't see the screen issue (yet)..

My company has 12 of them and not one of them has the problem, an overwhelming majority of the people commenting here say they don't have the issue(s) as well..

It is not that we don't believe you but it may not be a major defect and only affect a small percentage of the units made, we just don't know yet.

-----------

Also I went into it know it was a first run phone and anticipated some flaws, surprisingly we got lucky and except a few initial battery problems all the phones have been fine..

In 2007 we had 12 I Phones and the list of problems with them were staggering, in fact reading the complaints here if you removed the name EVO I would have believed you were describing the I Phones and issues we had.

Wifi, blue tooth connectivity, screen lifting, bad signal, poor battery life etc. all the problems we had with them..

Make your complaints get it noted and make sure your ass is covered and on record and noted about the defects you have.. If your worried about the phone take it back there is really nothing that can be done right now except to exchange it out and or get it noted on your Sprint account and noted at HTC.

If it is a major issue I thank you for your efforts
