use Rock(divx)Player ..google it

I have tried two .avi's so far & they both work great (burn notice & Superbad). Just drop in the .avi file on to the SD card & run the app.

Tip: I think this is a beta version so the default screen shows FPS rate on the top right ....but if you press divx pic on the screen twice it will turn all captions off & you have the option to stretch the image to full screen.

Use stock player for .MP4 & this Rock player for .avi files

you can use handbrake & other methods if you really want to have high settings & encode in HD but this thing gets the job done in seconds.

this should be more reliable then yxplayer...

I downloaded the apk in another thread for this app and it seems to work ok. I havent tried it yet with an AVI yet due to being at work, but i tested with a MP4 i already had of The hangover and it seemed to work pretty well.

The stock player plays it the mp4 at full screen which is great but this avi player doesnt. It has the black bars on top like its wide screen.

Ill try an AVI when i get home.

Even the the wide screen and black bars are annoying on a screen like this i guess the trade off is that there may be no need for coverting movies. Just download and go which is nice.

I would rather convert to a better resolution and get the screen size, but there are some that dont know how or dont have time to fiddle n test.

As stated either in this post or in another thread that there is the frame rate at the top right corner. It didnt bother me in my movie viewing but i can see how it could get annoying.

If it really does play AVI files then it would be worth paying a few bucks for once its out of beta.

I've got it running trying an xvid 720p rip, running at about 15fps. Needs to go a little faster to be really watchable in HD, but better than xy for sure. It does run regular DVD rip AVI files though at full frames, between 24 and 30 average. Hard to beat that for sure, I'm very happy to see this bad boy now!

Seems to work much better with avi's than mp4's thus far. Had some sync issues with one movie I had in mp4 but the avis worked pretty well on both my Evo and my coworkers Incredible.

Looking at OP's post this player still needs a lot of work if it is dropping frames on those videos (assuming the bottom numbers are the playback frame rate).

It seems like this still needs some work done... I found 1 or 2 other divx players also but they are similar to this ..... I guess its just work in progress.

great player it plays all the avi files i have. But mkv files that are used for anime these days are very choppy. If it can play the mkv flawlessly it will be the ultimate player or atleast for me since most of my files are avi and mkv. Mp4 files are pretty choppy, the default player plays mp4 files better.
