Root Thinking of Rooting; Where to get FACTORY ROM if it goes bad?

Like the title says, I'm thinking of trying out the steps to root my Droid Incredible, but before I start I want to make sure I can get back to the factory image if things go bad. With that said, I do fully understand the risks, and am taking the chance that I may end up with an expensive paper weight, but I just want to minimize the chance of that.

I searched all over the web and scoured the forums for a few hours and came up empty handed. Can someone point me in the right direction, or am I just missing something obvious here?

This file is the factory RUU that the first phones were shipped with. Using this will wipe your phone though, so be mindful of that. Boot your phone into the bootloader where it says fastboot. Then, run the file, and go through the prompts.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but from what I've read you can only truly brick your phone by installing an incompatible radio. It looks to me like the bootloader is almost like going into the BIOS on your computer the reason I say this is because when you press the track pad and power it boots straight to that and you don't even see the HTC splash screen kind of like when you go into the BIOS on your computer you never see the Windows splash screen...just my $.02 and please correct me if I'm wrong...

True but who is to say you wont corrupt the boatloader ... i suppose anything is possible if you mess around too much. I'm not saying you will, but i figured id just throw that in there for arguments sake

All I can say is that I've done all kinds of things in my BIOS on my computer and never screwed it up. If they are relatively the same I personally think it would be hard to completely FUBAR it. I've had it where my computer wouldn't boot because of the changes I've made in the BIOS but then I would just go back and undo the changes and try again. I always think of the BIOS as more of a control panel than anything else...

You would think someone would create a way to force flash a bricked phone via the Usb connection and the cmd prompt

Ok I thought about that some more....I was thinking if the phone turned on to some degree you could reflash then do a few power on and offs to get it to take...

Utopian thoughts.....don't mind me
