ESPN ScoresCenter now in the Market

Just tried it, along with Goal.com's app as it was in the featured list.

Much prefer Goal.com, but I prefer ESPN Score Center on the iPhone, it's FAR superior. On Android, it's a little laggy on my Desire, and for the most part it's just ESPN mobile web.

Anyone else disappointed?

Just a shortcut to the web?

What does the iPhone port do?

Mine is a little slow to respond as well. I think it's a combination of the ads and the ticker at the bottom. I wish there was an option to turn off that ticker.

What does the iPhone port do?

Basically. If you click on a match, it opens a special mobile version of the match details.

On the iPhone, if you click on a match, you get a nice popup with an instant overview of the match such as all the stats, and it is incredibly smooth. Then you get the option to open the same special mobile version.

I was actually thinking of the Sky Sports app when I first posted, but I've just tried the ESPN apps both side by side, and there isn't a lot of differences apart, from the match overview popup and speed. The Sky Sports app is superb, thats the app I want on Android!

As for if it's the official app or not, it is practically identical to the iPhone one, so I believe it is! Hopefully it will get faster with future releases.

I added the widget and the baseball game shown is in the 3rd inning, but the widget just shows the date and start time and teams records.

Shouldn't that show me the game score like sportstap and scoremobile?

If I click the widget, it shows me current game status.

Seems like a pretty huge bug.

Also, are there any score notifications? Like sportstap has?

You are set up alerts but they show up as text messages.
