New Hero on Orange

Hey there lads,
Just recently bought the Hero on Orange and am loving it. But I just have a couple of quick questions regarding the 500MB anytime mobile internet browsing per month which I got included in my plan.

When I use my Hero to go on the internet via my wifi at home- when it connects to my wireless router- does that count towards the 500mb or is that totally free?
If so, is it the 3G when I don't have a wifi connection available that goes towards that 500mb?

Sorry if it's a little obvious, but I don't wanna be going over my limit on internet and be paying a stupidly high amount!

Hi Innes, I have also just ordered a Hero on Orange with 500MB data!

On a similar note I was wondering whether other Hero users here are on orange with 500 MB data and whether they stay under this limit easily? I know it's a case of how long is a piece of string because everyone uses the internet for different things! I'll be using mine for email, browsing and downloading apps.

I have an unlimited O2 Web Bolt on with my N82 Which is a great fone, but hoping to aqquire a HTC Hero very soon!!

So I imagine it'll be the same with Orange?? Please tell me someone if I'm wrong.

I use my Wi-Fi home network all the time which is free, also my girlfriend's home network again free. The thing is this, you do get charged for some Wi-Fi connections I.E. I know O2"s the Cloud you get charged for and certain other ones in bars and restaurants unless it's stated " Free Wi-Fi " I just got back from the Lakes and used the home connection in the hotel which the lovely lady gave me the WEP Key for and again I never got charged. Your 500MB Allowance Will be for use on your fone Via 3G.

Oh my- have NEVER met anyone with Innes as their first name, spelt that way too When you call the 150 number, do you speak to anyone or is it all automated?

I am also very cagey about using Wi-Fi A WEP or WPA Key is just a security measure it don't mean the Wi-Fi access is free, although using you home Network is free. Just beware in Bars and Restaurants, always ask if it free before you start Browsing Mate

I'm on Orange with the 500Mb limit. Works out at just a gnats over 16Mb a day, so I got the NetCounter app which shows a running daily, weekly & monthly total of your "cell" & WiFi useage. Think I've only gone over my daily allowance once in the month or so since I've had the Hero

500mb will be more than enough for emails and light browsing, you only need to worry about it if you teather it to your laptop or stream music and videos frequently.

I don't think o2 has a fair use policy, so you can use it as much as you like. The dropped their cap when they got the iPhone. T-Mobile have a 1GB cap, but they don't charge if you go over, they just throttle the bandwidth a little.

I have met about 3 in my lifetime. We are a rare breed....

Call 150 and select 1 for mobile then you get the option 1 remaining minutes 2 remaining text 3 remaining data. All automated.
