Roaming Question

Hi All,

I have an evo that replaced my htc touch so I have been with Sprint for a while. My problem is that when I roam and then try to place a phone call, I get a Verizon message that the Verizon network cannot authenticate my account and thus does not allow me to place a phone call through thier network.

This first started on my touch phone and I thought it was just a touch problem. Now that I have the Evo, it has happened to me whenever I'm roaming. I called Sprint and they were no help what so ever. The CS kept telling me that they cannot guarentee roaming phone calls.

Anyone have any idea what I should do? What is the point of have free roaming if you can't roam?

Roaming agreements include some but not all of other carriers networks. The reason might be that you're in an area that VZW covers but that coverage may be due to 1) another carrier's roaming agreement with VZW limiting calls to VZW only or 2) an agreement that VZW recently put in place through acquiring another company that hasn't been fully integrated into VZW network yet.

Bottomline is that there are holes in all carriers coverage and in roaming agreements. Most of those holes are found by people who just run into them rather than being something that carriers announce/list.

If it's in your home area or somewhere that you'll be commuting or traveling often, you might need to find out if Sprint can do anything.:(
