Help Where can I get a new screen?

So I did something bone-headed and accidentally shattered the screen on my Incredible yesterday. Even after removing the battery and putting it back in, all I see on the screen are some multi-colored dots in the lower half of it.

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement screen? I called HTC and their vendor, but they were not any help. I did not have insurance on it at the time (though I thought I did, but it's a moot point).

That is an excellent price! You are very lucky because there are a lot of threads where people have had to pay full price for a replacement! That is almost as good as the initial $199!

Indeed it is. Full retail was their original offer, then yesterday I e-mailed the CEO via Verizon's website. Got a call from a very nice person at Executive something or other late this morning who offered me the $249.

Oh, and something else...they said that I can keep my original phone and do whatever I want with it. So as of right now, I'm thinking I'll hang on to it until replacement screens become available, then fix it up and sell it.

Now that is really strange! You'd think they'd at least want to verify that your's is bad. They will probably blacklist it so that is can not be activated again, so if you get a new screen, you might only be able to use for the WiFi function. Oh and for GAMES :D

My understanding is that it won't be blacklisted, but I suppose you can never count that out until you actually try to activate it!

I wish I knew how much a screen replacement is going to be, because at this point, I really have no idea what the value of the phone is. I'm sure it'll be pricey, though.

You may try just selling it in its current condition. There's usually a market for new devices that have been broken, because the parts can be used.

Might not be too bad. This store's replacement screen for the iPhone is only $28 with do it yourself installation instructions. They have a lot for HTC phones. You might email them to let you know when they get any for the Dinc:

Great idea; thanks! I sent the seller a message asking if/when they were going to sell AMOLED replacement screens for the Incredible.

Well, I got my issued resolved. Verizon agreed to send me a brand new Incredible for $249. The best price I could get without insurance!

Doubtful. This sounds like maybe it's Verizon's new program that allows anyone to buy a refurb replacement device at reduced cost, even if you don't have insurance. Or was this brand new? If they're not asking for the broken one back, they're probably not blacklisting it.

Good luck with this since AMOLED screens are hard to come by. They're probably expensive as hell, too, if you're not HTC buying hundreds of thousands of units at a time. Best bet is to get ahold of a bricked phone on ebay.

It is a brand new device. Also, I am very much aware of the screen shortage, which is the main reason that the phone is on back-order. I could sell it as is, but it doesn't hurt to hold on to it for at least a little while to see how much a screen would actually be.

He could have, but that would have been fraud, we don't advise users to commit an illegal act on the Android forum.

Exactly what I was going to say. ;)

Additionally, it was beyond 30 days, and Verizon does not allow insurance to be added after that point.

However...as I would not advise anyone to commit fraud either, the following is a suggestion for people whose phones are currently undamaged, but it has been more than 30 days since the date of purchase: I have not yet inquired about this myself, but my friend insured his phone through State Farm for $30/year with no deductible by purchasing a personal property insurance policy for it. One pre-requisite, however, is that you also carry renter's/homeowner's insurance. MUCH cheaper than Asurion!
