Okay, let me preface this post by saying that I love my EVO, and I was one of the, apparently, 'fortunate' few who got one on launch day.
Everything on my EVO works perfectly, except for an issue I am having with the front-facing camera. The point of this post however, isn't the camera issue. Just take my word for it that after 3 master resets, formatting of SD cards, and many hours with Sprint and HTC tech support, it just doesn't work correctly.
Now, on to the actual point of this post! After realizing that I couldn't resolve this issue I reluctantly went back to the store (Best Buy) to exchange it. Well, of course they told me that they didn't have any more in stock to exchange it with and furthermore had no idea when they would be getting anymore in. All they could do was take my name and number and add it to the new pre-order list.
I find this lack of inventory extremely discouraging. It is not adding to the mystique or hype for the EVO. All it is doing is pushing more people to pre-order an iPhone 4! Did HTC not learn anything from the success of the Droid Incredible? I mean, when a Best Buy in a major media market only gets 10 units on launch day, that is a problem!!! Now, they literally have no idea when they will get more in.... it could be into July? That is completely absurd.
Anyway, this is by no means a slam on the EVO. In fact it is the polar opposite. Because I am such an EVO fan, I find this whole situation very disappointing.
