Accessories Best Ear Buds with Mic (under $50?)

Looking for earbuds with a mic that will both answer a call and skip songs and adjust volume on the Incredible, any suggestions? Tried looking around and haven't seen a lot of info that will do all the things listed above.

Klipsch Image S4i's are a great set of headphones, the "i" version has the mic and volume control.

Does that mic have noise canceling, meaning the mic will block out background noise?

When I look for "noise cancellation" I find EAR BUDS with noise cancellation (block out sound so you can listen to music, etc., but I want a noise canceling MIC (like how the Nexus One has dual mics).

Any ideas?

I saw the Klipsch S2M for $26 at a MacMall outlet store, but they aren't of the same quality of the S4i. Check out amazon for more reviews.

It seems that most sets made for Ipod 3GS will have some functionality on the Incredible, but usually not volume control. The stock music player on the Inc doesn't forward tracks with a double click(it will redial the last number), but Meridian player and Pandora will. So far it seems 3GS compatibility will also share play, pause, answer, hang up and send to voicemail with the Incredible. Mics seem to work fine for calls.

I'm personally waiting for the Monster Turbine Copper Pro's with Controltalk(I'm guessing $250 though onecall's name your price feature) to come out, but I am also interested in a cheap $50 one for the gym. Sony and Denon have products on their websites that I am still investigating - but generally reviews of their products seem to indicate better sound quality than the v-modas and the skull candy brands, if that is important to you. Ok, back to obsessive headphone research.

NuForce NE-7m's are very highly appreciated by the people over at Head-fi. I've had two pairs (the first replaced under warranty) they have great sound quality although if you're really rough on your stuff it may not be the best option. My first pair had an earbud split within a month, asked for a replacement they did so without argument. My second pair lasted about a year and a few months before splitting just like the first pair. All in all though, they stood up to a decent beating and sound great while being pretty cheap.

Bought the NuForce's after getting tired of dry-rotting my Shure (over the ear style) while jogging at the gym... I believe the sound better than the Shure e2c's I had and are about half the price (and have a mic)

Some of the best earphones for the money are from Sound Magic. I believe it's a Korean or Chinese brand, but the drivers/parts I think are used in higher end, well-known brands (I think).

If you take a look at some Sound Magic buds over at Head-Fi, you'll see what I mean. There is a model with an inline mic, but I forget which one. I was looking at those.

I just picked up the Sony MDR-EX38ip. They go for $38 at Target, but they were on sale for $30 so I had to give them a try. Target has a great return policy, but I've decided to keep them. Of course, volume control doesn't work on the Incredible, but I can forward tracks in the music playing applications that I use so I'm happy. Call quality is pretty good. Music quality will be great for most people but the audiophiles or those who don't like bass heavy signatures. They do need to be broken in, sound out of the box is ear piercing. I let them play at just above listening volume for about 24 hours and now they are very enjoyable. Comfort and build quality are up to Sony's excellent standards. I was going to get the well reviewed $99 Klipsch S4i, but the Sony's will hold me over until the Monster Turbine Coppers with Controltalk come out.

EDIT: Those earphones don't have volume or song control, just a single button that ends a call.

What you are looking for is active noise cancellation. There are fairly few earbuds that offer this feature - my guess is, because you have to have sealed your ear fairly well for it to work, and earbuds that seal your ear are usually deep enough in your ear that they already offer substantial (passive) noise reduction. Those little buds that just rest in the outer part of your ear don't seal well enough to offer good cancellation.

Philips and Sony both offer active noise cancellation models but I can't really figure out why anyone would want them. Good ear buds that slide into your ear canal already block so much...

Not all the functions of the s4i work with the Incredible or any droid phone for that matter.

Mine will allow me to answer a call and that's about it. The mic will not work nor any of the advance buttons.

I sent Klipsch an email months ago and told them they were asleep on the job if they don't make a BT set for Android.

Seems we are the only ones who realize how awesome Android is and that it will soon surpass iPhone as the portable device of choice.
