few issues that I don't think have been mentioned

Hi all, I got my droid last friday and have been very pleased, however, here are the items that I have not seen be addressed so far, hopefully someone has the answers.

1: I use 3 gmail accounts, 2 for work, 1 for personal, I also have gmail set up in my outlook (not exchange server just outlook)
If I get a new email I typically will be at my computer and see the message, however, if I veiw the message on the computer, then it dissapears from the phone. WHAT GIVES.
all my history of all my emails is not on my phone and i can't find a feature or menu function to change this. I don't want them to be hidden when read which seems like that's what's happening.

2: Next, if you allow your phone to time out while in the messaging app, when you unlock it, it will almost ALWAYS lock the phone up and ask you to force close the messaging app....this is pretty annoying when Im carrying on a text conversation and it takes a few minutes for a response I would like the damn phone not to make me close the messaging app then reopen it just to respond to a text. any solutions? (I've already changed the timeout delay to 5 minutes hoping this will just prevent the phone from going dark in the first place.

3: Having to push the power button to wake up the phone is not a good feature in my opinion, is there an app that will allow the accelerometer to control when the phone wakes up.....I mean that seems like a much smarter way to wake up the phone, and follow that with the swipe to unlock it. (my harmony remote turns on autmatically when I pick it up, which is probably why I want this feature)

4: the "join" feature doesn't work well with my FB contacts and regular contacts....I read that you have to have the names exactly the same....on some names it gives suggestions of who to join it with (different names) and other times, it just won't give you a suggestion....this is lame. It should allow you to select who you want to join with who...and let it be our choice not the phone.

These so far are 4 items I'm hoping I can change on the phone with either a setting or an app, please let me know if anyone already has answers.

I've read pretty much as many of the threads as I can and I haven't seen this discussed yet.

I bet your harmony remote isn't in your pocket being moved around all day. If the screen turned on every time you moved your phone, your battery would get run down.

1. i only have 1 gmail account and everything works like its supposed to. for me, when i read an email on the pc, the phone will be marked as read on the phone. it doesn't disappear, its just not bolded anymore. also, to check your all old emails, just go into Settings > Labels > All Mail. i actually prefer this over the way i had it on my omnia (my phone before the droid). on the omnia, whenever i push email, the emails get stored onto the phone. which is ok i guess, but when i read it on the phone and delete it, it doesn't sync with the gmail servers. so when i check my email on the pc, the email is still there. kinda stupid to me. i like the way the droid works in sync with the actual gmail servers. if i read an email on my phone, itll become read also on the pc. also, when i get a notification on my phone that i got an email, if i read it on my pc, the notification goes away on the phone, and vice versa. very cool.

2. this doesn't happen to me at all. i used the default messaging app and it works fine. currently using handcentsms though.

3. this wouldn't be a good idea at all because youll be carrying your phone in your pocket. so whenever it detects motion, itll turn on. and off. and on. and off. and on.

4. i actually had to go into my gmail and organized my fave contacts. i didn't organize the whole thing, just the important ppl and the ppl i contact the most. and for fb, i just let it display all the ppl i have on fb. took me a while to configure it just the way i liked it though.

FWIW, I have been seeing some strange interactions among apps. Android 2.0 may not be as solid as they hope.

If you have loaded a lot of apps, you might try uninstalling them. I had voice recorder kill my ability to make outbound calls, even though it was not started. Took me a while to figure that one out, since I had only run the app for about 5 seconds two days earlier.
