A Little DIFFERENT Battery Issue

In having the phone for 2 weeks my battery usually lasts thru the day at work and thru the evening until bed. On 2 occasions it drained to under 10% before leaving work with no difference is use than normal (actually today was a little LESS and still drained).

I charged it to 100% and in about 2 1/2 hours, back down to 80%. I downloaded the Startup Cleaner 2.0 and killed some of those apps I don't use (Amazon MP3, etc). Going to fully charge it again tonight and can't turn it off as it is my alarm in the morning.

Any other ideas?

Yeah there is a thread @ xda developers about battery conditioning. Basically u charge ur phone till the green light comes on. unplug it and power the phone off. Then plug it in until the light turns green again. Unplug it Wait till the light goes out and plug it in again. Rinse and repeat this 10 times.
I did this and it seems to be holding a charge much better.

You'd think they'd condition these batteries in the factory. Not everyone will go to the forums to find this answer.

I *think* that only a certain batch suffered this issue, not all.

The issue isn't reported as with the battery so much as with the part that decides (in)correctly if it's fully charged or not. The process straightens it out, from my understanding (no guarantees I'm right).

I did the charge, shut off, turn on, charge repeatedly until green light is on right after plugging in.

So far i am to 2 hours and at 93%. THANKS!!
Nothing to do with that hack at all.....I did this as well last night.

Read my post here. I would be pretty suprised if everyone doesn't get the same results:

I've done both the SD format and the battery charge cycling and I'm not getting the dismal results you're seeing. Major bummer.

I also kill all my social apps and Sprint cruft at startup.

I'm not getting the utopian results by the OP in the SD card thread, but I'm getting better luck than you.

And these changes are definitely making a change to my longevity. I started with one charge at 92%, left it overnight for my alarm clock, then did 3 hours of talking and (i'll have to go back and check) some 8 hours or so of 3G ontime with a trip or two to the Market, light emailing, maybe 20 or so sms, and a half hour of BT file transfers - after 22 hours, I was 27% battery left.

That was a moderately light day of use and moderately long time between charges, so I've seen an improvement there.

I'm confident that as a group, we'll walk and stumble our way into the solution.
