Anyone else waiting for Passion?

Rumor is the Passion will be coming to Verizon before year's end. It appears that this comes from only one source so who knows... Verizon will increase their early termination fee on November 15th from $175 to $350 so it sure would be nice to know for sure before Nov. 15th if the Passion is coming any time soon. Otherwise, I will probably get the Eris on a 1-year contract.

Is it just that Passion will have Android 2.0? Larger screen?
Yes and Yes. It will have a faster processor than the Eris and is suppose to have a FM radio (which is really nice).

I'm still not convinced this phone will show-up on VZW. If it does, great. Though I'm only gonna wait so long for it. There has been nearly nothing said about his phone since early Oct. And most of what has been reported seems a bit GSM centric.

I am heavily leaning toward the Eris. In general, what is the upside of the Passion versus the Eris? Is it just that Passion will have Android 2.0? Larger screen?

Eris:
528 Mhz processor
Andriod 1.5
3.2" (320x480) HVGA screen
HTC Sense UI

Passion: (RUMORS)
1 Ghz Snapdragon processor
Android 2.0
4" (480x800) WVGA screen
HTC Sense UI

Read the tech features about 3/4 down the screen:
Snapdragon

I'm getting ready to return my Droid and join in the wait. It's going to be difficult to go back to my previous phone, but the hardware inside of the Passion is just too hard to ignore.

That and I'd like a phone that has a actual usable camera unlike the one in the Droid. I may not use it often, but it's nice to know that it is usable when you need it.

I joined the forum just to get more info on the Passion. My finacee bought the droid just wanting to try it, and she's now ready to leave AT&T and the iPhone 3GS for the Droid. I'm still holding onto my 3G, desperately waiting for Passion news to complete the switch. If we have no news by the end of next week, I'll pick up a droid and hope the Passion lands within those 30 days of return if it does come before Christmas. If not, I may just sell the Droid and take my loss just to get the Passion.

If you wait til Nov 15th, their holiday return policy kicks in, and you'll have until Jan 13th to return/exchange it w/o penalty. That's what I'm gonna do.....

I'm still in shock wat this darn thing has under the hood, its faster than my first PC i had, a few years back. This is insane.
Errrrr not its not. Reality is not what one makes believe it is. It does not matter if its 1ghz chip its still far slower than any desktop/laptop CPU by a LOOOOOONG way. These phone CPUs are very simple chips and can only process very little per clock cycle. Dont matter if its its 1ghz or 2ghz its still can even come close to old laptop CPUs.

First the Passion is rumored to drop on Black Friday. Now the rumor is the Curve2 is going to be ready first, pushing the Passion back to mid-December. I CAN'T WAIT THAT LONG!!! lol!

It was bound to happen. Verizon wants to keep Droid owners outside of the 30-day return period. It is a bit cruddy Verizon marketed the Droid as being the powerhouse of their Android phones while they secretly have another phone planned for a month later that is even more powerful.

I'm not sure the Passion/Dragon is all that much "more powerful". Doesn't the Droid just have a GPU? Whereas the Dragon doesn't? I'm not sure it will be an apples-to-apples comparison.
All of them have dedicated GPUs with hardware acceleration. Even the Eris. GPUs in the Eris and Passion are part of the Qualcomm platform and are under one name and they both have GPUs that do hardware acceleration just like the Moto Driod. There is nothing special about the Moto Droid just becuase it uses a CPU and GPU from two different Mfrs. Its a common mistake people make to think the the Moto Droid is special becuase of this.

Incorrect.
Verizon extends their holiday return period out to January 20th for phones that are purchased during the holiday season. Go into your store and ask the rep about how long the return REALLY is, sure they're trained to tell you 30 days, but because its the holidays they give you extra leeway.

Also if you're thinking about waiting, then wait, don't go buy the droid then return it.
