Root Rooting this weekend but one last question?

I will go ahead and warn all that read further that I am an idiot when it comes to this stuff. I have searched and did not find my answer although I am sure I have seen it before but here goes. I am planning on rooting this weekend. I am planning on using Ivans Official Rom if that is relevant. I want to remove most of the stock apps on the phone. Is this possible and if so how do I do it. Or is it as simple as once I have rooted I can just go in Astro and uninstall. Thanks for the help in advance.

P.S. Sorry for just writing one big paragraph.

It isn't that simple for stock apps that are pre-installed on the phone. Some apps are needed to run sense - like footprints, other roms like tainted vanilla (vanilla based roms) dont need footprints.
Get rooted first and then you can search and find out how to remove apps, you can even put the apps on your computer and re-install them through adb instead of through the market. all cool stuff.
I know there is a thread on here for jsut that because, well, I started the thread lol
nothing comes natural. everything is done from practice! enjoy!

+1 on HTCthebestdroid's response. By the way, Ivan has already deleted quite a few of the stock apps (i.e., bloatware that most may not use) from his totally awesome custom ROM that you spoke of ;) (you start out with more than 140 MB of free memory for your apps).

When / if you are ready to delete some other stuff, here's a thread you should carefully read through:

As Norm would tell you on "This Old House": measure twice, cut one! (i.e., make a backup (or have a backup plan) before deleting anything. Cheers!

I am pretty much a NOOB so I may be stepping on my d*** here but I've been using both Evil Eris 3.0 & Ivans official & have removed all files pertaining to Footprints, stocks & some other crap I didn't want and sense has been working flawlessly. I also found the Estrongs file explorer app includes "ROOT EXPLORER" under settings, which can be used to remove any unwanted stock apps. There are two settings to choose from when setting up the Root Explorer, each of the two roms used a different setting, if you pick the wrong one Estrongs will go into a continuous FC. You have to uninstall & reinstall the app to get it to work again, then go in & select the opposit that you selected the first time. Been able to use one of the options to get Root explorer to work on every ROM I have tried.

Root Explorer has been the second app, after TitaniumBackup, that goes onto my phone after I install a new rom, it's a great, simple tool to remove apps "on the go".
Another good tool to check out is "Android Commander". It's a PC program that lets you easily get inside your phone system and you have one click buttons to push and pull apk's off of your phone and store them on your pc.
