Hi, all. I was having a hard time hearing the navigation voice on my phone, so drill a hole for the speaker. While I had the drill out, I made a hole for the camera as well.

Do you know where the magnet sits in the case/where it interacts with the phone? I was messing around with a magnet yesterday, and I can get the multimedia dock screen consistently, but I couldn't pinpoint the site on the phone for the car mode. I plan on making my own car dock.

I read somewhere that the two docks use the same magnet, but of opposite polarity. So, flip your magnet over.

I that the actual phone holder that comes with the car mount kit? If so, that's sweet because it uses a standard AMPS bracket and will fit into my VSM mount I already have in the car. No suctioning to the windshield!

Wanted to let people know that the Moto car mount can be mounted on a curved dash to bring the phone closer to you.

I figured if the sticky disc came off I would simply reattach it with silicone but so far it's very secure.

For those hesitant to use silicone I wouldnt be concerned because it simply peels off if you were to sell the car.

As for mine, the adhesive is working fine. :D

first hte magnet is REALLY small- like maybe half the diameter of a pencil- I was surprised.

If you look in the original picture- at the right top corner of the T slot you can see a round indented spot- that's the magnets location.

On the phone, if I pull the back off it looks like it lines up just to the side of the battery towards the camera. It's around the center line there. There's the SD card, a screw, a small chip, then a peice of rf shield, and then the battery connector. It seems like it lines up over that small chip next to the screw. I'm sure it wouldn't aim at the sd card, the screw is just a screw, the sensor should be the connector to the batt, and the rf shield might almost block the mag, so it must be the chip.

All,

Thanks for this thread.. I cut three smaller holes fo rmy speaker and I cut away a hole for the camera. Works great. One question though... I have found the Droid works much better in portrait mode vs landscape mode in cars because some features (like phone) don't rotate, you can see further down the road in the nav, and the camera has a clearer view away from the bracket. My only issue is I need to find a right angle USB charger... The strait plug is an eye sore.

Are you guys liking it in landscape?
