i absolutley love this phone, i just installed flash in it to and as i restarted it like USUAL it takes like 2-3 minutes to fully boot to wear i have my home screen... does this phone make anyone else nervous?
my iphone i never worried about what i did to it , itd always worked.. this evo im scared to restart it cause idk if itll turn on..
what im asking is does it take this long to boot up?

I am pinching myself just to make sure this thread is real...

Really? Long boot times is now another issue people have?

How often do you boot your phone? Honestly, I did it a total of maybe 5 times since the 7th and one of which was to get the google navigation to show up, and one just to try out the hard reset... Which did nothing...

Without going overboard, no I don't think the boot time is long... It runs for 100+ hours easy for the 3 - 4 mins it takes to boot up if even that...

A related problem is the thing not turning back on... You have to take the battery out to turn it on... We have three EVOs in the house and I've seen it happen on all three...

I bet it boots faster than your iPhone. Enough said.

When you turn on your phone don't hold down the power button for a long time. Just hold it down for like a second then release it. Then wait a couple seconds and the screen will turn on.

No there are times when notimg will respond. With the three phones I have at home it happened to them all at least once. I did all kinds of pressure and all time lengths. No dice. Only way to work it is to remove battery.

I have HTC Tattoo.
It takes 70 seconds to boot into home screen.
It takes 1 minute and 35 seconds to boot into a home screen and connect to GSM network.
It takes exactly 2 minutes to boot into home screen, connect to GSM and load all services, so the home screen "unfreezes" and can be used.

Somebody was shocked boot time is an issue for some people.
Good for him. Learning is a good thing.

I'm using Sygic car navigation quite often. Don't know why, but from time to time it reports no GPS fix. This sounds normal, but as I have discovered this isn't the case. It seems that something screws GPS communication to all aplications (and I dont think it's related to Sygic). The only thing that helps (that I know of) is rebooting the phone.

Now, you shocked guy, be shocked on this:
Car navigation dies on the midle of some city. You reboot the phone, wait 2 minutes, startup car navigation, wait a minute (sometimes more) to get a fix and recalculate your route.
Now, you missed your turn. In 3 minutes you miss big time, you know.
It takes you 5 to 15 minutes to get back to the track.
Then it dies again. You miss your turn again.

I also have an another phone and I don't have problems with its boot time. You see, I didn't have to boot it in a year. Of course, I don't use it either.

This thing is lightning compared to my BB Tour.

On a good day it takes about 5-7 minutes for the Tour to load up to the point i can use it.

The first time I booted up a Tour, it was taking so long that I reset it a few times before it finished because I couldn't imagine it was taking this long. So I called tech suport, and by the time I got off hold and got to talk to someone, it finally booted up. The worst is when you're doing tech support and they need you to reboot a few times. The rebooting alone is a half hour investment.

I've had a couple of reboots on the Evo where it hung on the 4G screen for over a minute, but boot time is usually a hair over a minute and i've had a couple of reboots that were lightning fast. I have noticed with froyo that the SD card recognizes much quicker.

It's truly to bad people are so critical. So the post starter exaggerated, my teens are the same way. I will say however I have noted my phone has become much slower on boot up. I came to this thread for help not to see verbal assaults on someones issue.

My simple question, much like a computer, you can speed up your boot time by shutting down start up apps, So can we do that with this phone?
