Just out of curiosity, has anyone/anybody found a way to control how the charging led on the top right (or if its multicolor) through an app, rooting or custom ROM?

I know there's some limited way to control the trackball LED (atleast thru stock froyo). I say limited cuz it ONLY blinks and ONLY when the screen is off.

If the screen is on why would you need a light to notify you of something?

And what do you mean by "ONLY" blinks? What else did you expect an LED light to do? It's not going to detach itself and make intelligent conversation, let alone a tuna sandwich for when you're hungry.

Yes, I expect the trackball to popup and brew me a nice cup of coffee, and crack a good joke while it's at it. I gotta get my money's worth.
OK, no. All I am expecting is the LED to stay lit, and cycle colors for multiple alerts (SMS & Email at the same time).
As for LED during screen on, I kinda prefer to change colors when a call is coming. (Like for different contacts).

Now that you mention it, I wish my trackball brewed me coffee :(.

Oh, ok I get it now. I can change the color for Handcent SMS and customize blink rate. I have it blinking faster and blue, but I'm sure you could set it to stay on for 10 seconds straight or something and be off for a split second only...

But Handcent has been the only thing that I've noticed so far that lets me configure the trackball LED.
