Download and save youtube video to your G1

Here is a cool trick to save videos to your G1.
If you use firefox web browser you will need to download a plugin called download helper.
Now you go to youtube and find a video you like.
then wait for it to load.
then when you select download helper in the top right corner you select from dropdown menu the file name of video followed by .flv.
when you download the .flv file then i use xvidforpsp and convert the .flv to mp4 ot h.264 and then copy it to the G1 memory card and tada you just saved the youtube video for playback to your G1 to play at anytime and save without having to find it again.:D

I do use Grabthat video. I tried it myself and it really works. Simple and fast.

All you have to do is log on to YouTube. Select the video you want to download. Copy the url on the Address bar. Go to Grabthatvideo.com and paste the YouTube url to the box. Press the download button to start downloading your video. Save the video to your desktop and you can change the filename. In order for you to transfer video files into your computer, you need to download flash player software at Grabthatvideo.com, and take note it is for FREE.

It is simple and fast. Besides, those softwares are FREE.

Goodluck!

there is a great app on the market that does this for you. It's called YouTube Downloader. Once installed, simply find the vid you want on the youtube website, click the link and you will be asked what you want to open the link with, select the downloader and it will download the vid straight to your sdcard.

Im about to make all of your lives 10 times easier. In order to download youtube vids without the need of apps on your PC or G1, simply type in "pwn" in the front of youtube. So in example,

The best way of downloading a Youtube vid to your computer is creating a bookmark pointing at

Code:
javascript:if (document.getElementById('download-youtube-video')==null && !!(document.location.href.match(/http:\/\/[a-zA-Z\.]*youtube\.com\/watch/))) {var yt_mp4_path='http://www.youtube.com/get_video?fmt=18&video_id='+swfArgs['video_id']+'&t='+swfArgs['t']; var div_embed=document.getElementById('watch-embed-div');div_embed.innerHTML=div_embed.innerHTML+'<br /> <span id=\'download-youtube-video\'><a href=\''+yt_mp4_path+'\'>Download as MP4</a> (click and save)</span>';}void(0);

That will add a download link at the bottom of the description box, if clicked while you're on the video site.
