Help, Hello Kitty wont go away!

My Daughter saved a photo from a Hello Kitty puzzle app. Now every time I power up my Droid the Hello Kitty picture keeps appearing as a wallpaper. I cant find it anywhere. I uninstalled the app and still not gone.

Connect to your computer as a USB drive and search through all of the files and folders on your SD card. Make sure you have your Windows Explorer set up to show icons and pic previews with in Explorer. That way you don't have to open every picture file, you can just see it and then delete it. Chances are, it got saved to wither a folder named "download", "downloads", or an app specific folder which would probably have the app name in it somewhere.

In the gallery, it has to show you what folder it is in. Like mine has:

Camera (2)
Droid Shit (25)
Download (13)

Then the rest, which has a Picasa logo showing they are synced.

Once you see the folder name, it shouldn't be hard to find it.

Oh, and sometimes, it will be buried within multiple folders. If you can open it on your PC, you will eventually find it. You just have to dig sometimes.

I found a folder in the phone when I was connected to my laptop and it had over a hundred thumbnails showing about 30 almost naked pics of women. I dont know where those came from..... I tried to open the ones that did not show anything but got tired of opening all of them so I just deleted the whole folder and I will now turn the phone off and see if the kitty is still there.

I restarted the phone and watched it power up and it flashed the Hello kitty puzzle screen for a second and went to my home screen. I cant find this kitty pic anywhere.

If it shows up when you restart, sound like a boot animation thing to me.... are you rooted? You may want to keep asking, someone should know something...

About the Hello Kitty thing, sounds like something either got replaced or corrupted that has to do with boot. Hope that's not the case, but sounds weird. Hello Kitty must be trying to take over!

I am not rooted. It just appears when I turn the phone on. there is no sign of it on my phone anywhere. Its just a stupid little thing that I jusy want off my phone. I told my kids not to save any puzzle pics from now on. I think my daughter saved the puzzle pic as a wallpaper that is hidden someplace.

Sounds like you've got a rooted phone and your daughter granted root permissions to a malicious app.

This is why you don't let small children touch your expensive gadgets. Time to wipe and reflash.

Never mind, you aren't rooted. In which case, mount your phone on your PC. Search for a file called ".nomedia" (it's a file that'll keep media from appearing in gallery) and the Helly Kitty et al pictures should be in the same folder.

probably not if the wallpaper is on the sd card.

Heres what I would do. Copy everything on your sd card to a folder on your pc so you have a backup. Then format your sd card. Then reboot your phone and see if it still happens. That will tell you if its on the sd card or not.

I know some apps will not work right without an SD card, but instead of formatting the card, possibly just boot the phone without it in...or am I missing something basic about the phone where it requires an SD card to start up and never found out because I haven't?

Well, I know for a fact that some apps require the SD card to be inserted. Homerun Battle does because it stores the information on the SD card.

I just booted my phone up with the SD card taken out. The message that pops up is that the SD card was removed and to insert a new one. Phone functions work and some other various apps work. Homerun Battle says that you have to have the SD card in because it requires more that 5.6 mb of memory. I guess that is a fail safe so that you do not put too much info on the on board memory.

Ok, I took out my sd card and turned the phone on and the same hello kitty wallpaper appeared for a second after I unlocked the home screen. After that it wont be seen again untill I turn on my phone the next day. I think it in the phone and not in the card. Can I take the card out and do something to my phone to get the kitty out?
