Root Nandroid backup? Contacts?

What if I dont want them in my google account?

The last guy who got on here and said he synced them to his Google account, flashed and then couldnt get them BACK from his Google account was told he was a dumb ass for only backing them up to Google, and not using a backup program too.

Although, no one ever mentioned WHAT the best way to do that was.

this is typical attitude of people on here; "oh, you have a problem with your phone. that just means ur stupid for not using xyz app."

They should have just told him to check his sync settings for his Google Acct.

Unfortunately, I've noticed. I just brush it off, I figure they were probably the kids that I picked on and beat up, er I mean the kids that "got" picked on and beat up in school so this is their revenge. :p

Seriously though, thanks for the help guys. I'll check the sync option out. I mean it's not a BIG deal if I loose them, but it took me 2 hours to input them all into my phone the firs time and I lost them when I went to Fresh .02 and I spent another 2 hours putting them back in and poof, Fresh 0.3 drops with a feather I actually WANT!

Thanks guys.

Btw, TheBiles, thanks for posting your version of that tut on rooting. Was really simply for someone new to rooting a smart phone to follow.

I backed mine up with Lookout app. It's like an anti virus, backup and missing device deal. Pretty slick. It backs up your photos and contacts to a website mylookout.com and you can find your phone from there and restore etc. I flashed Fresh 0.3 with the same fear as you and ended up restoring after flashing just to find out Google had already restored my contacts. So I was stuck with duplicates of everyone. Should have just trusted Google!

Give them time to sync.

I've tried this for a while. They just don't sync with Google for me. It would be GREAT if they did, so I could have them online too... but I've had to back them up on the SD card.

Are they "Google" or "Phone" contacts? Phone contacts won't sync. You have to visit google.com/contacts and make sure they show up there.
