Help Clear Google Account from Backflip

When setting up some of the features on my phone, I created a Gmail account (didn't have one before).

I told the phone to remember the password, etc. so it would automatically log me in, allowing access to my apps which require it.

Flash forward a couple weeks and all the sudden I start getting error messages "Sign-in/Sync error" any time I try to access anything Google.

I tried reentering my password with no success. I went to a PC and tried reset the password, but from Google I get "Sorry, your account has been disabled." It seems the phone trying to access the account several times a day for several days, tripped their "fraud" software and closed the account.

Since I haven't used this account for anything yet, I simply created a new account but can't figure out how to switch it out.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Making the change

If you want to change your Gmail account with the lock on it then:

1. Go into the gmail account and turn off in this order: AutoSync then Background sync

2. Go into manage applications and delete data for gmail, gmail storage, and Google Apps (you have to click on each one, and click clear data) - you should see the data line read 0.00B

3. Go back to accounts - you will still see Google with a lock, but clicking it causes it to disappear and starts the gmail wizard.

You can then enter the settings for the account you want to change to.

Thank you, this is very useful. One note, when I clicked gmail, it just showed my username and ***** password. however once I clicked google sync, it came up with the gmail setup screen. So this worked perfectly, thank you

i have a motorola backflip and the previous owner has a blur account but its locked how can i delete it?

To factory reset (aka hard reset) the phone since it is locked and you cannot do it from the settings menu, do the following

1. Turn the phone off.
2. Turn it back on while holding power and the camera buttons.
3. Once it starts let go of the power button (keep pressing the camera button).
4. Once it tells you to let go of the camera button, do so.
5. Then once the "Press vol up/down" menu pops, press volume down.
5a. It will say you pressed volume up (that's ok).
6. Once the screen with the "!" inside the triangle and a phone laying down appers, count to 20.
7. Then press the lower right hand corner of the screen.
8. It will bring up a menu to reset, update or wipe the phone. Select reset
9. Once it is done, reset the phone and it will be like new.
