Desire shutting itself off

Hi
I have been using my Desire for the past one and half month and suddenly today faced a problem four or five times in the past three hours. My phone suddenly powers off itself, then again switches on itself and gets hanged ( all of these times phone was connected to power cable for charging).
I tried taking battery out twice and inserted it thinking that this may solve the problem but unfortunately it didn't help.
Anyone knows what's going on?

Should I call my operator, 3G?

Thanks

Have you installed any apps, or changed anything recently?

Yeah, actually I got my phone as an upgrade last month and got my new price plan yesterday. So, as a result I had to call my network to tell me how to set 3G settings. During that process, I was asked to reset the factory settings and as result all the applications which I had installed got wiped out.

Once, this '3G setting' process got solved, I again installed the apps and then this problem happened.

They asked you to factory reset to update 3g settings????!!! I can see no need.

That said, factory resetting might be your best bet if you are facing a persistent problem. If that doesn't work, contact HTC.

i am having the same problem but maybe a bit worse. when i have had it on charge for a bit. it starts switching off then back on and back off and back on constantly until i take the battery out. but hen after this has happened i get fed up of hearing it switch off and on again so i unplugged it from the charger and it just kept on doing it even hours after being on charge it does it. i have spoken to htc who have said that i have too send it in for repair. it has been looked after realy well and have only ever over charged it once it at all and never for very long. any ideas guys!!!

There are many of these threads, its could be your taskkiller on the desire, the faulty mother board in the phone? Alot of people have had the phone replaced....and the problem is solved....but some say they had it replaced an still happens....

For me it only reboots when im not useing wifi and hammering 3g speed out side like streaming youtube etc,

a very annoying thing this can be, but when i dont use my task killer sometimes it doesnt happen :)
