i recorded two video clips of the same thing, at the same time. BOTH were set to 640x480 to provide a fair comparison. everything else was on automatic.

the test phones are my EVO and iPhone 3GS. you guys can decide which is better:

Really hope the EVO is on the right or you have a magic iPhone......Please, please, tell me EVO on right!!!!!!!!

I think the idea of a poll for this is kind of dumb though! Anyone picking the left is obviously blind!

Don't leave us hanging, clearly there's no room for interpretation. Left side sucks in comparison - at least in that environment (lighting, etc).

I agree the environment has an affect, but I fully opened up my blinds to let some light in. I can do many more, although its a bit tedious and time consuming, but I can assure you, in the several tests I've done, the left side will always look that way, and so will the right.

i did a test of my own and sadly i wouldnt be surprised if the Evo was the left. For some strange reason i did a test with my N900 and Evo, and the N900 shot smoother and the auto balance was much better and the Evo was kinda washed out and grainy, i had a better video shoot with the front camera then on the back, I hope this can be somewhat fixed in a future update, cause i thought 8.0 megapixel was suppose to be great. Outside though the evo shoots great when theres light but inside not so good.

I'm not a photog, but my 3GS pictures and video always looked like ass. Then again, I'm sure my Evo pics/video won't look any better.

Didn't the 3G have a horrible camera and Apple was able to coax some quality out of it through a software upgrade? Maybe HTC can do the same thing.

You guys make me laugh. If you want to know the answer make your own video. I ran a test and i can say the Evo has to be the right. If its the left then he has been drinking from the fountain of apple koolaid. Our phones can record guys 720p why in the world would you think it can't handle 640x480 with substantial light. Now if he recorded inside a closet i would go oh the left is the Evo.

My original instinct, and opinion from viewing the video was the Evo on the right.

It would just seem more likely that someone would try to "trick" us, than give the obvious result.

My problem with the video is that the left is way too dark in comparison to the right to be the same lighting conditions IMO. Now if the person would be so kind as to pan around the entire room to show the lighting conditions are the same I would be more inclined to believe it. (the shades look like they are drawn in the one on the left & you cannot see the lighting conditions on the right) and you cannot see if the lights are on.

(after looking at it I noticed they were just behind a second)

Now what I looked at was recording in an area myself that was considerably darker than that room and it was no where near as dark as that video

If you didn't notice, he took the video at the exact same time. The dog's movements are just off my a second. This means it was the same lighting conditions:p

I was gonna say that the "photographer" was not as steady with the camera on the left. It looks almost like the erratic movement was intentional. With that said...who ****in' cares. We all know if we are not getting what we want out of an Android product that there are(or will be) ways to optimize it! This phone is new. We will figure it out. In the mean time, do not tie your whole being up in it. It is just a phone.
