Phantom Skinz - Disappointed

Since there appears to be no refund option once you attempt to install the Phantom Skinz, I'm going to install the second set just for the fun of it, I guess. I've used this brand in the past for all my Blackberries, and they were always great. But this time the fit was not perfect. And I'm a little ocd about that kind of thing.

I wish they refunded, since they were the most expensive option. I'm going to try out the next group, I guess.

One suggestion to those who go with Phantom Skinz. I would leave the back off. It doesn't look great, and soon you will be able to replace the back of the phone for about the same price as a new skin.

Really? The front was what I had a problem with. It can only go so high, since there is a cutout for the front-facing camera. I put it as high as it would go. But the bottom was hanging off just a little. It was enough that there was a white part, an overhang of like a millimeter, when it dried. Drove me crazy. Maybe I just "squeezed it out" too much and stretched it some?

I'll try again tonight. If it doesn't work again, I'll contact the company I guess.

I had phantom skinz on my palm pre and it blew every other skin out of the water in detailed comparison tests. I loved it. However, this time around? not so much.

It came with 2 skins which is good because one was defective. One of the skins already has worn areas of it before I even pulled it out of the envelope. I put my spare Palm Pre skin on my gf's phone and my skin on my phone at the same time. Again, the quality of the pre skin was great and went on without any problems. I figured the EVO would be that much easier because its just flat. Not so much. I personally feel like they had a quality issue in my batch because it was harder to put on and doesn't look all that good compared to the pre.

Anyway a micro hair or two made it under and I am just going to suck it up because the spare is defective and I don't feel like sending it in for another $3.

that is so weird. my phantom skinz fits like a glove. only the top seems to be short maybe 1/2mm, not noticeable enough to bother me. no hanging off the sides or the bottom

i am very happy with my phantom skinz, but you MUST be careful when applying this skin. i was crazy careful and i still managed to wet the indicator strip under my battery cover. now to anyone who doesn't know it, they think my device is damaged but it isn't. i figure i have insurance and i can fight this if i need a replacement.

my advice. follow this black caulk trick first before applying any wet skins to your phone. this should fully seal out the water from coming in just as it would seal around a bathtub.

when i'm ready to take this skin off i'm going to be doing this to my phone before putting the next one on.

the skin fits like a glove and feels very similar to the original screen. i really like it a lot. i had no issues with installation (other than the one i already mentioned) as a matter of fact, if anything sticks to the sticky side, you can just soak it back in the soapy water and take your finger and dunk it in the water. while in the water with the skin, rub your finger all along the adhesive side to remove any lint or dust.

i did not turn my phone on for 24 hours after placement so that it would cure perfectly. it's been several days now and it works/looks great! has already saved my phone from two big screen scratches!

The fitment on mine was outstanding, way less than 1mm of space between the edge of the skin and the edge of the "bezel" of the screen, I really can't think of how to describe that better. There is just a sliver of screen exposed, less than the width of a hair I guess is what I am trying to say.

Likely there was just a manufacturing flaw on your skin, I had a friend buy one for his iPhone and it was like 10% too small! He called them up and they exchanged it for him at no cost.

I am bumping this thread to see if everyone is still happy with their phantom skinz. The reason i ask is because after the problems i had stated above the skin is just going to sh1t. Like i said before, ive installed 3 of these on palm pres with very good results. I cant say the same about the evo. Here i am, a few weeks after installation and bubbles and creases are starting to form seemingly out of nowhere in the middle of the screen. It seems to be getting worse by the day when if anything it should be getting better. This is long after it dried fully with zero creases or bubbles. I guess that's it for me and phantom skinz. I wish i could peel this off and try the spare but the spare was defective on arrival with a worn out area on it already. I bought the two of them for $7 so it seems pretty pointless to send this back and pay $3.50 in fees and postage for a single replacement. What is the point of this warranty when you pay full price for a replacement?

Well the fit on mine turned out to be great. I must have just had a bad cut on my first sheet. The problem was that the Matte version totally ruins the display. I'm not exaggerating this. It is like looking through frosted glass. No fingerprints on it, though.

So I installed the clear. Again, the fit was outstanding. But there was still a haze after about 48 hours. Might be my own fault, I guess. I've installed them in the past several times, though. I don't really care. I pulled it off. I checked their warranty. You can return it only if you never tried to put it on in the first place. wtf?

Oh well. I bought the Zagg and I'll try those out. I'm now $50 in the hole on freaking skins! lol. If these don't work I'll just go naked.
