[Fixed]Install new SD card...

have had my hero for 4 days now, superb phone !

I have just got a new 8gb SD card, can I just add this instead of the 2gb one ? do I have to move data etc. beforehand ?

Yes you do have to move data that was on your old SD card to your new SD card if you want to keep that. E.g. any music / videos that are on your old card.. Some apps may have installed some files on the SD card (e.g. Sound board apps) so you may need to reinstall those?

Hi!

I have exactly the same question.
I tried to copy all the contents of the 2 Gb card to the new, 8 Gb card.

So far the only thing I found is different:
On the original 2 Gb card in the Hero, in the Albums I have 3 folders:
- Camera shots
- All photos
- All videos

On the new 8 Gb card in the Hero, in the Albums I have 3 folders:
- All photos
- All videos
- DCIM

How would I rename the DCIM folder to Camera Shots or something else? Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Surely, when the phone is connected to your pc- the folder can be renamed by right clicking > rename???

But, by default, the phone camera store photos in your /sdcard/DCIM folder. So renaming it might not be a good idea.

+1

I don't think renaming from the computer would be the solution.
The 2 Gb card in a memory card reader contains the following directories:

Code:
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7100]

C:\Users\***>dir l:
Volume in drive L has no label.

And now I found out what was the problem with mine.
When I copied the contents of the 2 Gb card, all the data got moved to a folder named Removable Disk.

So I moved everything to the card's root directory and everything works now how it should.

:)

Take it easy.

How would all this sound to a newbie:eek:

I have a memory card from my old SE k850i that I would like to use and keep the small 2GB card that came with my Hero as a backup.

Would it be too much to ask for some step by step instructions?

Thanx...
1. With your 2GB card in Hero, connect it to your PC
2. Mount your Hero as a drive in your PC
3. Copy all content from that drive into a temporary folder in your PC
4. Unmount the drive and remove the 2GB card from your Hero
5. Insert your old card into Hero
6. Mount your Hero as a drive in your PC
7. Either format / delete all files from your mounted drive
8. Copy all files in the temporary folder into the mounted drive
