i cant wait.... 2.2

Hmmmm......wonder whether that report from a German web site is just based on the rumours from XDA based around an email conversation with an HTC customer service rep???? It's a bit like the '23rd' rumours - one source but reported everywhere and often as fact.

Could well be, didn't sound concrete in any way but it would be good if true.

Just as long as my Desire gets Froyo at some point then I will be a happy chappy.

I reckon there is truth in phandroids article. The desire is HTC leading phone in Europe and they want to keep ahead of the iphone 4 so they will be doing everything possible to get 2.2 out ASAP. There has been numerous whispers about the desire getting the update before most phones, looks like it might be a reality :)

I have gotten bored of hearing it all for years! Think about it, even way back in the days of PS1,2 and now 3... Nokia Symbian phones N96, N97, even as far back as the N70, updates were ALWAYS very very late and it amuses me that folk fall for it over and over and over again.
Big wait, hype and expectancy turns into disappointment followed by folk slagging it off and saying it was released too early.
GT5 for the PS3 anyone lol :D
Just accept it, iPhone 4 or not, 2.2 won't be available until the end of the year in a working format and if you have a branded phone, add another decade on to it lol :D
Sign of the times? Consumer pressure? Geek optimism? Who knows but it's a fact of life unfortunatley brought on by a now now now culture pandered too by now now now multi-nationals:D *gets off of soap box * :D

I can't understand the excitement, what does Froyo bring? A poor effort at apps2sd and if you use imbedded flash video it will annihilate your battery and melt your phone.

What are you talking about? Froyo will give you the option to move applications back and forth to and from the SD card, all within the confines of application management. That's all it needs to do.

Embedded flash video will not melt the phone, and will not consume resources when it is not being shown.

What else? Ooh, let me think... tethering might just be useful to some people.
