A bunch of gripes... (anyone got any fixes?)

I absolutely adore, love, feel inappropriate things for this phone - so the below are niggles I'll learn to cope with. Unless I don't have to *hopeful*.

1) Often, when I go into the underground (I think that's the cause, anyway), it forgets my time zone - and I get an alert requesting I set it myself. Not a biggy - just strikes me as a tad strange that it should not wait till above ground and check, or something.

2) Sometimes text messages take a while (as in a few seconds) to send (for no obvious reason) - if it doesn't send instantaneously, I get message failed to send beeps and buzzes notifications repeatedly till it does. This starts (when it happens) from a split second after I've pressed 'Send'. About 10 seconds later, it'll go silent and work successfully - but it is an irritating bout of madness - particularly as it seems to be so busy alerting me to its failure to send that it can't get around to sending it.

3) The voice to text thing is nice, but a bit of a gimmick - doesn't seem to get punctuation, or much of what I say correct - and I don't have an accent that's particularly unintelligible (I'm verging on RP, for goodness sake). For example: 'To be fair,' got written as 'Theresa'. It also sometimes gives a network error - do you have to be connected to the network for this to work?

4) Maybe my thumbs are fat, but I keep putting full stops instead of spaces - this drives me mad. *sigh* I've tried calibrating it, but no love.

5) I've put in the nice gallery app instead of the photo one that came with it - looks a lot better, but I've lost the ability to share via messages - it's got everything but (peep, facebook, twitter, email, flikr, google goggles etc - just no messaging!).

6) On the same thing 'Everything but' - I'd like it just to have Facebook, twitter, email and messaging as options - I'm never going to use the rest to share - is there a way to show fewer options?

7) Because it comes with twitter and peep, and I'm using twitter, I seem to get dual notifications - even though I set peep only to update manually. Is it possible to remove the program from the phone altogether? Should one remove the program - can things that came with the phone be redownloaded if necessary?

8) Is this a network provider issue or a phone one - sometimes it really objects to sending mms messages, giving errors like: "unable to send message. Retrying. Invalid response received" - they send eventually, after about 15mins. [O2] - Weirdly, I got this several times, then I got a response from my friend showing he'd got it, then I got the same error again, as if it had not sent! :S
Sometimes it'll send fine, no problems. I don't change settings, yet this occurs...

9) I'm clumsy. I have a thickish silicone case. Should I worry about how much warmer it makes the phone?

10) - that's it, for now - I had a couple more, but my mind's gone blank...

3. Yes I agree with you about the gimmickiness of it and yes you do need to be connected to either wi-fi or mobile internet to use it.

9. I'm clumsy and I have a silicon case too. Sometimes the phone does feel a tad hot - when on a long charge for example - but It's never worried me and I've not experienced anything that may cause me to worry about it overheating in this way.

1. the clock and weather update using gps and mobile data to get your location, so in the tube you wont have a gps signal, hense the error message, i think you can set your clock to not use your location, look in the settings for the option.

Yes, you turn off "Automatic, Use Network-provided values" in the clock settings.

2) perhaps a separate app for texting will help? something like Handsent from the market.

3) RP? I've never even bothered trying the voice stuff because I assume it only works well for Americans & I'm Australian.

4) Lots of other keyboard programs available, most likely you'll find one that you make less errors on.

5 & 6) I've not used that app, but have you tried pressing the menu button? Also, some apps give different menus when your in different parts of the app.

7) I have peep on mine & don't use it either. When I launched it to see whether I can find an option, I was presented with a login screen. If you have to log in, perhaps you can log out? Alternatively, create a dummy twitter account & log into that on peep. No clue about restoring default apps that have been removed.

2 & 8) Considering you get the same error for texting, I'm guessing this is a provider issue. Hopefully they or their website can provide the settings so you can check they are correct? There is an option to turn off failure reports altogether, but long term you probably want to know when you got a phone number wrong or something. From within the messaging app, hit the menu button.

9) Not really. I have some notes about heat in my battery thread (first post), but I wouldn't worry much as long as it's not constantly running at 40 degrees Celsius or higher. Lots of battery apps can tell you the temperature.

For
1) Settings>Date & Time, deselect Automatic
4) dl and use Swype
7) You can't install Peep, but I'm not sue what you've done as I use an alternative app and have never heard any notifications out of Peep. Having said that have a look at Settings>Sync and see if there are 2 twitters registered
9) No

Another vote for Swype. Took me a few days to get used to it but now I love it.

Alrighty - I'll give it a test.

Thanks.

(I now have 2 remaining niggles, assuming I get used to swype... *sigh*)

1) I can now send images from gallery via handcent, but it gives me so many sharing options some scroll off:
