Very cool...I am just apprehensive about how well 2.2 will run on the Eris hardware. If it's sluggish compared to 2.1, I just wouldn't be able to justify it.

I would think (and bet) that it runs better (or at least no worse than) 2.1.

Each release and version of Android gets better and better. Its also important to realize how relatively new Android is (yeah, its nougaty goodness at the center is Linux), but wow, lots of fixes and efficiencies seen from each minor and major release. I wonder if anyone's actually ran benchmarks for each version on the same hardware platform / device...would really be interesting...

Go 2.2! :D

+1 Many get stuck in the Microsoft mindset that requires more power with each new release. Google will continue to include features that don't work for our phone, but their core will get faster and more efficient.

Booting into Froyo as we speak.

http://www.multiupload.com/V1BNGR10LZ

Model: SDK
Android Version 2.2
Baseband version: 2.42.01.04.27
Kernel version 2.6.29 root@rackmount #3
Build number KoasFroyo V9

Did a factory reset, and dalvik wipe.

So far.. Browser is lightning fast to load up. Goggles complains that my language isn't supported. ENGLISH! DO YOU SPEAK IT? :)

I lost my menus after a few minutes and had to reboot.

Camera is no go.

Just now I had the browser sitting on the google home page and it suddenly disappeared. Returning me to the home screen.

Home screen suddenly doesn't show up and will need to wait about 20 seconds for the launcher to come back. Afterwards the launcher and other items seem frozen. Power button still responsive.

Some places the phone is much faster, some places it feels slower.

Enough fun for the night, reflashing my nandroid back. May play with more tomorrow.

I saw a youtube video today of a G1 running a rom called King Eris, which looked to be a port of 2.1+sense to the G1. If that's the case, I'll just happily wait for King Incredible 2.2 :)

I found it via CrazyEye's sig on XDA.

I'm new to root and ROM cooking, but to me this proves that Sense UI can be ported to different devices. I wonder how it works . . . specifically, I wonder if KingKlick's ROM allows Sense widgets to run with non-Sense launchers (e.g. LauncherPro)?

Regardless, it proves that Sense UI can be ported. This gives us hope that a Froyo ROM can be created in the future that will support Sense widgets!
