Got my handset swapped out by Sprint service today The techs were very surprised to see the function keys glowing away on my #2 handset while the phone was in sleep mode. My new handset is not a retail box phone it came in a HTC service box wrapped in green bubble wrap no battery, charger or SD card just the handset and the back (new style). The first thing I noticed about this phone is how recessed the screen is in the shell all around much more than my last build #3 handset. The screen is also brighter on this phone much brighter for some reason. I checked all the call timers and they are all 000 this is a build #3 also. The lower four LEDs DO NOT Glow/illuminate in stand by like the old one so that is a defect if you have one doing this.

That's because it's not "new" those are refurbished units that come that way.

Yeah my buttons glow very faintly when in standby. I can only see it in very low, to no light conditions. I am just not sure that I want to go through the trouble to exchange it and re setup a new phone. I don't feel that it impacts my battery life any so i'm not too concerned.

Your post is pretty funny. The last time you got a new Evo, you crowed about how the version 003 was a "totally different handset" and that "the screen is brighter and whiter looking (more vibrant)...."

So which is it? Is your new phone even brighter than the brighter and whiter screen from your last phone, or is your new phone's screen so blindingly bright it made you forget that your last phone was so bright?

I really think you are either trying to make people think that whatever new Evo you have is literally the best and the brightest, or you have convinced yourself that whatever new Evo you have is the best version out there. Either way, you have lost credibility to me.

Well, I hate to disagree, ha, ha, but, I am not arguing in my post. I am simply pointing out an apparent inconsistency.

Hmmm. I didn't intend to start this back and forth. I really just found it interesting that BetterMost mixes sensationalism with fact. This came about when I suggested a certain thread by BetterMost had run its course and I was met with hostility by some forum members. (As in that I was a wannabe moderator.)

As a result of this mix of fact and fiction, I took a second look at the postings of BetterMost. (I think it is an assumption that BetterMost is a guy.)

While I think there certainly is a need to call someone out when postings are contradictory about basic facts, I have had second thoughts about being antagonistic to BetterMost’s posts. The key is to simply wade through the b.s. and extract the morsels of fact which remain.

Thus, I must give credit to BetterMost on at least two elements. First, the postings that buttons remained lit on the bottom of the Evo. While I acknowledge that multiple threads about the same issue are irritating, I think BetterMost had a valid concern despite some obvious exaggeration and hyperbole.

Second, I must admit that BetterMost has never responded in kind to the sometimes personal attacks leveled against him/her. This includes my rather snarky comment about the screen performance. It turns out that BetterMost has more tolerance than I, and I give him/her credit for that.

So my irritatingly long post concludes with the following I have learned and will try to abide by: Try to maintain your humor in the forum, and try to exercise patience with other posters. I know this is trite and obvious, but if we respond with humor rather than irritation, we might keep things from spiraling out of control at times.

(Although I’m still pissed at the guy who called me a “wannabe moderator”.)

Because the first thread or two he made got me all riled up until I realized he was a loser kid thats lying.

I don't even "follow" him. I read most of the threads on the front page and I typically come across 1 or 2 a day where i say to myself "that sounded like complete BS" and sure enough I look over and WorstMost started the thread.

I don't know of any easier way to say this.

It is fine to disagree with a thread, post or member. Attacking another member is completely and totally unacceptable and uncalled for. I am not saying this for the first time to some of you. If you can't function within the rules and guidelines of this forum then it might be time for you to relocate.
