When you wipe you have to erase all you data on your phone. Make sure you back up your apps first. There is an option in the custom recovery we got today to do this. As far as loading the new ROM goes, you have to first rename the zip file to update and the load it from recovery. Then you go back into recovery and load the apps.zip from the sd card and everything should be good to go. There is one negative though, gmail unread count widget is not supported. Other than that this should be a good fix and good practice for everyone. Sorry if my instructions suck, but I am extremely tired and I have to be to work in 4 hours. Have fun messing with it.

this may be a dumb question, and i certainly apologize if it is, or has been asked before and answered. how do i backup my apps? i've tried titanium backup which won't work without busybox apparently, and i can't get busybox to install from the busybox installer. is there any way to only backup my apps from the clockworkmod recovery? any help is very much appreciated. also sorry if this is in the wrong sort of thread

Go into titanium backup and click "problems?". It should tell you it's going to update busybox to a known good version. If this is what you mean by the "busybox installer", than I'm not sure, sorry.

You can also use the Astro file manager to back up your non-protected apps.
