Myfiles.apk shouldn't have been removed. It causes an FC error when trying to set an audio file for a contact's ringtone.

Copy it from the removed apps file and add it to the update.zip file, re-flash and it'll fix the problem.

I need help installing this.

How exactly does the partitioning thing work? I followed a link on XDA on how to partition it, but then MiniTool Partition Wizard tells me my computer won't be able to read the partitioned SD card. If my computer can't read it, how the hell am I supposed to get the ROM onto it? Also, do I drag the zip file inside the SD card, or the contents of the SD card?

Thanks in advance. I tried winging it and nearly bricked my SD card, and it was a pain trying to get it working again. I'd like to be sure of what I'm doing before I do it again.

Default Removing Themes?

Thank you so much for the custom ROM. I just installed it yesterday and it works flawlessly on my Fido network. The only tweaks I made so far was to remove the T-mobile apps. I've gotten used to the old themes though; is there any way to go back the old themes by removing the:

- themed icons through the IC Menu;
- themed framework to a black "Sense" theme; and
- themed battery and wireless icons?

Dude, you just saved my life. We just replaced my wife's phone (cat had spilled water on it) and I was going a little too fast deleting stock apps and managed to make it stop booting. Fortunately the recovery image still booted, and I was able to use your custom ROM to get the phone booting again. Thanks for your work!

MiniTool Partition Wizard warns you that Windows will only read the first partition. This is why you must create the FAT32 partition first, and then the ~512MB EXT2 partition. The phone will see the 2nd partition; Windows will not.

After you create and format the partitions, you copy the update.zip to the drive letter assigned to the SD card, eject the SD card (via "safely remove hardware"), then put it in your phone. Now put it in the phone and follow the instructions in the OP to flash update.zip to your phone.

This ROM not only worked perfectly to repair my boot-looped phone (wish I had seen the information about the two files that look like calendar files but aren't BEFORE I moved them ), but it is faster than it was! First time ever installing a ROM, excellent experience. Learned a lot too. I have had ZERO issues.

Thank you!

Wanted to let folks know - if you suddenly start having memory problems on your T589, look for a purple and black "Group Text" icon, app by ZipWhip. This was an unasked for push by TM and Google - massive memory killer. Just removing that app made the problem go away - but you have to have Root to uninstall it. Even so, it still shows in Play/Market as one of my installed apps, and updates appear in my update list. The APK/ODEX is not even there anymore, so not sure why the market shows it installed.

OK - probably stupid question, but can anyone tell me where the registry files (or equivalent) are located? Want to get familiar with system setting format and information.

Hi people, i'm back here...Unfortunately with a doutb :S Issues about the space, even when Link2SD link the apps to the 2nd partition of the SD card, all the data and caché stay in the internal memory so with 30 - 40 mb of data the ph shows that the internal memory is full and needs to be cleanead :S

How can I make that the data and caché also linked and stay in the SD card?

Because everything in Arhtard's ROM is deodexed, the Dalvik cache still ends up getting full from all the libraries, even though the apps' dex files are linked to the SD card. I recommend using my ROM instead, which has everything odexed and will let you get the most out of your phone.

Ok, thank you very much for your answer, the Arhtard's ROM simply works great on my phone, I love the performance but the space issue is really a huge problem because at this time is being a while since I started in Android so I want all the app I can install in it xD. I will check your update ROM

Look in the settings.. I can't remember where it is, but I know I had the same problem and I was able to fix it. I think it required going into the app that generated the notification and changing the notification color. Sorry, my memories are fuzzy but I hope it get you pointed in the right direction.

I didn't get the point xD
The problem appears when I am downloading some app from the market or uploading some photo to Facebook, in those cases I am just able to see the green bar with the process but the letter is black same as the background

Hey guys, after a while using this ROM I strongly recommend you for the space problem that 1) even when Link2SD tell you that the app was linked try to linked to the SD once again sometimes is like not everything was linked and 2) after you link the apps reboot your phone because I'm now with 60+ MB =) The last time I used this ROM with the same apps and not following this steps I always got space problems.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=hr.podlanica&feature=search_result#?t=W 251bGwsMSwxLDEsImhyLnBvZGxhbmljYSJd

Hey guys.
Sorry I'm of no help now.
I had to take a job that has me on the road 24/7/345 days a year.
All of my files are on my desktop PC in storage. Even my Smart is in storage.
Has no one ported cwm recovery or made a oc'able kernel yet?

Yep, like I mentioned we are able to do it with the uot kitchen, the bad thing is that the process delete all the data...But what you mean trying that? Like editing with apktool?

Hey, does anyone knows where I can find the basic wallpapers of this ROM? Is there a route on the device where this images are located? Specially the default one:

Is the only one that doesn't appear on the availables to select

copy framework-res.apk from the /system/framework/ folder to your pc and look for "default_wallpaper" inside the /res/drawables/ folder i believe it was. i use winrar for stuff like this.

ok i added a odex'd non-rooted version to post #2.
i removed most of the bloat, left what was needed.
gmail i removed, u can get latest from market, saves space.
updated to the most recent version of play store, saves space.

the primary reasons to root is to overclock and/or remove bloat and since there still isn't a kernel available to overclock this device, i removed the bloat and left the rom un-rooted. you can use superoneclick if you want it rooted. imo no need for root. i did set the minimum frequency to 320, up from 245, this should help with battery life in comparison to a stock non-rooted device.

i'm home for 2 weeks for surgery, so i was able to have some time to tinker some more...

any requests that are rom related, feel free to inquire.
i'm home for 2 more weeks.

I'm working on one, but it's slow going because the source code that Samsung released is incomplete/incorrect. I've made a kernel that boots, but the touchscreen driver in particular is FUBAR.

I have, however, developed a process for disassembling and reassembling the boot/recovery images, so we can get init.rc or build.prop tweaks to persist.

it will return your phone to an unrooted state, even if previously rooted.

it will wipe your data, so contacts and extra apps will need to be reinstalled.

if your rooted right now you could pull your /data/app/ folder to your sd card, flash the 2nd rom option, open my files, and manually install each app you have in that folder on your sd card. but for contacts, you'll need to log back into google and sync them again.

About advice, How can I work with the file that the UOT kitchen gave me, because I wanna get my theme, like the one in the image. The important feature is the % of the battery.

Is any chance to do it? Also like a curiosity, what is bloat means?

Thx in advance I think I'll be maybe the first one to prove it xD but in about 2 - 3 days.

Delete the update.zip and re-download it. You probably have a corrupt/incomplete download.

Ok, I got up to this step done
"- check the <Auto Link> box and click on <Install Location> and click <Internal>"
and now I don't see the auto link box anywhere. Did I do something wrong?

Ok people, the problem with the internal space memory is now over With this app you can pass the Data content from the internal to the SD Works perfectly with Link2SD. Check it out: (you need root)

After having run into the dreaded 'memory is almost full' problem last year, I rooted my Gravity Touch and installed Link2SD and for a while it worked well for me. But after some other problems cropped up this month I finally took the plunge and downloaded both of Ahrtard's ROMs. I first installed the odexed one, and found some things I really liked, but also some things from the stock ROM that I missed.
Things I liked:
The overall speed.
The theme - especially the battery indicator in the notification bar.

Oh yeah, I also rooted the odexed one as well, as some things I wanted needed root.

The biggest thing I missed in the de-bloated odexed ROM was the T-Mobile backup for my contacts. I have found this very useful over the past year, and I could find no way to get it back. I did manage to get my contacts back again from another source, but not having the ability to just sync from T-Mobile was frustrating.

I then got brave and tried to remap those three green buttons to arrow keys like they should have been in the first place. I looked online and found advice and programs that would do this manually. I copied the gt2_keypad.kl with File Expert and edited it with another program. But found that when I tried to copy it back it wouldn't copy. So I tried Button Remapper, which would make things easy on me, only to find that I didn't have the right kind of root to remap my buttons. ARGH! And to top things off I somehow managed to delete my gt2_keypad file, which messed up the physical keyboard recognizing the top row of keys. Another ARGH!

So I saved contacts and whatnot and last night ran the original de-bloated ROM. It runs well. I installed Button Remapper again and remapped those four green buttons. And to my surprise, I had back the T-Mobile Backup! Liking much of what ADWLauncher looks like and does, and thinking that it was the source of that better battery icon in the notification bar, I installed it.

Turns out that that notification bar battery icon (on its side with the % inside) is not part of ADWLauncher. And I cannot figure out which 'Black Theme' Ahrtard used in the odexed version, so I can find out if that battery icon is part of the black theme or not.

And to top things off I cannot find a way to set the lock screen wallpaper. I try to do it through the settings, but when I select "Gallery" (the only selection), it errors out.

Any help in these areas will be greatly appreciated.

I am curious if this update.zip will overwrite the radio?
I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Q/ SGH-T589R from Fido.
We use the 850/1900 GSM and 850/1900 HSDPA+ radios.
The standard T589, as far as I know, is AWS 1700/2100.

Well, after 1-day testing the debloated odex non-rooted ROM is pretty neat, I really like it as a recommendation you must root the phone and use Link2SD (follow instructions from the 1st post) in order to install many applications, because as it is, only leave you with 120MB so is just for 20 apps maximum. I hadn't try it because I lost the USB cable but tomorrow I will.

Some apps I loved from 1st post ROM--and that I would definitely install after root:
- Link2SD (obviouslly)
- Terminal Emulator
- Quickpic (instead of gallery)

Edit:
Another thing I noticed is that the notification for "battery full of charge" is not appearing :S I don't know if is not charguing to full or if is just that the notification is gone.

Default blinking, wifi and USB connection issues after installing this ROM

I have got Samsung SGH-T589W from Canadian Wind mobile, Android 2.3.6. Due to known issue with insufficient internal memory I have installed this ROM. Unfortunately now I am experiencing these issues:

1. blinking display (espec. during animations or writing)
2. Wi-Fi does not work (after turning it on there is written "Error")
3. I can not turn on USB storage

I can't install back ROM v.2.3.6 because it writes "E:Short write of /tmp/sideload/package.zip (No space left on device) Installation Aborted".

Does anybody know how whats wrong with it? Thank You...
