Welcome all android hackers!!

I wanted to start this group for all the android users/lovers who won't or have yet to buy a G1 phone. Android is going to be huge and the development of android on phones besides the G1 is going to be even bigger. Once our group gets to 20 members we can start to post to our own forum and make our own threads. Lets brainstorm and build this!

sweet! i have android on my alltel touch, and i am looking forward to developing and expanding it. i am having only one problem with it though...looking to fix

what's the problem?

idk if you've read it over at ppc geeks, but i still cant get data to work. i have the 3.42.50 radio, and i make sure i connect before running android. when i get into android nothing connects, and if it tries to connect for more than like a minute it reboots my phone. And in one of the dev things (i dont remember what it was) it even said that i had an active data connection

that is a strange problem? i'm sure you are hearing this alot! are you making sure to put your "data" and "system" files into the root of the storage card and the rest of the files into the device memory, and any apps should go into a folder named exactally "AndroidApps"? this is a stupid question too but are you using a vogue? what rom are you using? are you sure your radio is upgraded (it should say at the winmo boot screen)? just trying to throw anything out there that would work.

after you have gone through the questions and the 2 tutorials i would highly suggest you just start completely over. delete and download everything again.

Actually yeah i do hear that a lot haha. alright so i decided to delete everything and start over. i did it the normal way, it was no different. when that didn't work i deleted all of that and tried the cab file, also no different. im using dette's 2d v2.3 diamond edition rom, idk if that has anything to do with it. and yes, lol, i am using an alltel htc touch. radio is also updated with the newest bell rom. any ideas?

EDIT: i got it fixed! i deleted everything again and uninstalled the cab. then i put the newest (12-11-08) files on my device and tried it. not exactly sure why it works but either way it works. now ive got two things...
1. is there anyway to actually use the pattern unlock as the unlocking method? or is that still being worked on...
2. This group needs more members!

actually yeah you can set your own pattern if you go to settings/security and location/ change unlocking pattern. follow the steps. android is so cool and fast, your going to love it. i'm sure you've been messing around with it the last couple days like crazy.

oh i know i love it! and yeah i got the unlocking thing working. when i first tried it i did the pattern once and didn't see the "next" button at the bottom. yeah, i cant wait till the camera works, that'll be great. and lets get that forum!

dude have you tried slideme? a ton of really cool apps for free and they instantly are compatible and download straight to your phone. try it out

yeah, i have slideme! its pretty cool, but i never find any really useful apps, theres all these notepads and budget things, but i want something new and sweet. idk, i might just be picky hah. hey do you think that somewhere down the line we'll be able to use the eye-scanner thing that the g1 can do? once the camera works and there are a few more tweaks i am hopeful that we could get that running
