Confused G-tab broken power jack

Hey everyone i have a gtablet and the power jack broke on off of the board in the tablet. I opened up the tab and have the jack sitting here, i was wondering if i can purchase a new one from somewhere? or if there is another way to charge it. IE through the dock slot on the bottom of the tab? Anyways if anyone knows what kind of jack this would be or if i can just charge through the bottom slot if anyone knows where i can buy the cord for the bottom.
thanks!
-Chase

YOW! Was this "misuse" or was it bad manufacturing that could be replaced under warranty? They're definitely not a year old yet...

Well i think it was just over use.... plugging/unplugging and then moving it around while plugged in.... so when it broke off the pins in the back that get soldered to the board broke off with it ... or else i would have just resoldered it.

You can charge it using the dock. You plug the ac cord you have to the back of the dock and if you want you can plug hdmi to a tv or monitor and have a blast like that. You can pick up a dock at Malata ZPAD Dock for gTablet Viewsonic gTablet hdmi dock g tablet [DOCK_GTAB] - $49.00 : electronicCrap, Accessories for Android Tablets and Phones

Yeah that way sucks, I'm looking at a "dock" as mine is quite wobbly as well! Pity these things don't rechange via USB, that would be hella good!

yellowcouch, did you ever find a replacement power jack? (I'm searching for one, and will post back here, if I find a good one.)

Default Mine broke too...

HI guys,

Yeah, the cat knocked mine off the end table and it landed right on the power connector while it was charging. When I opened it up I saw that it had pushed the connector through the back of the jack, breaking the plastic in two and breaking off two solder joints.

Figuring this thing was already toast, I broke out the superglue and glued the broken piece back on, making sure not to get glue on any of the metal using the tip of a toothpick.

Once it was back in place perfectly, I used my soldering iron and just heated up the broken off solder joints since they were still attached to the broken piece and lined back up with their original spot on the ic board. When it looked like the solder had re-melted, i made sure it was reasonable well attached, then plugged in the power cable.

First good sign was the red charge light!

After reassembling it booted fine but the touch screen didn't work. A little more tinkering and I was able to get that working again as well, though I'm not sure what I did besides re-seat all those little connectors VERY carefully.

Once that was done and I was 100% charged, everything seems ok again.

If anyone wants any advice, I can offer some. You'd be surprised what you can do with the simplest of tools.

Not sure how long my super glue fix will last but at least I know how to do it again if I need to. And it buys me some time to try and find a good replacement part.

Good luck!

Mine just got loose one day and came off. I tried soldiering it with a cold soldering iron I have, but it just didn't stick. So have ordered a new iron a real one. When it did stick it worked fine, except I got the same screen issues that Majestyk spoke of. How did you fix that issue after you finally got the dc portion to stick.
