Its pretty quiet here recently, which i guess means were all pretty happy with the ROM's were running. Team Villain have done a great job in supplying constant updates if your runing 2.1 or 2.2 who's ROMS are you using?

Back in the game, what did I miss?
I had VR12 untill few days ago untill i installed FV1.4.4 which i find amazing, but still struggeling with the GPS, it takes a long time to catch up a signal.
I just restored back to VR12 and tonight i'll go for a fresh clean installation to see if the GPS will work on FV1.4.4
I DO LOVE VILLAIN WORK, amazing, thats all i can say.
Radios are separate to ROMs, so it's not necessarily the one you were using whilst you had V12 installed. The radio would only change if you flashed a new one.
I'm using Elelinux Froyo 1.6. It has no lag whatsoever.
I seem to have bad luck with Villianrom releases, when I was using V14 my phone kept freezing at OC 729, and my linpack scores went from 5.0 (fresh install) down to 2.5 after I installed some new programs and placed widgets on my homescreen.
I decided to try Elelinux and have not ran into any issues of freezing or slowing down despite the # of widgets i place on my homescreen. I'm very happy with Elelinux and would recommend it to anyone as an alternative.

+1
Fairly happy with it, though last few days it's been quite laggy and a few FC's here and there.
Another on Elelinux 1.6 here. Smooth. stable and snappy. Hard to believe it's user-built from the ground up - kudos to all the ROM devs for a true open-source effort.
Of the 2.1 releases my favourite is still MoDoCo, especially when stripped of anything remotely superfluous (to me). Sheer dung off a digging implement!
I was on V12, tried RcMix which was good but then started getting some FC's and random reboots, flashed froyd 1.4.4 and enjoyed that for a couple of days but started getting FC's here and there. Not many widgets with it either so gone back to V12 now.
The devs words were something like this "if you need a wipe: do it , if not: then dont" (and then some joke about pants :P), it can run without a wipe but for some might not .
I wiped too (and no idea if I had too, not a big deal to wipe anyway if you have the proper backup tools and backups)

Installed Froyd 1.5 this afternoon.........and uninstalled it this afternoon. Took a couple of photos with it and when I rotated the phone over to look at pic as a landscape, it went all blurry.
Up dated my Elelinux from 1.5 to 1.6 today, love it! No issues at all ! I hope to see more from the developer(s) in the future

Back on good old V12 again now
Yea I had the same issue with Froyd Villian, fyi Elelinux doesn't have that issue, you have the option to use either the 3D gallery or another one, I use the other one it's faster.

I remembered someone here said something about Mock Location.
SO: I went to Menu -> Settings -> Applications -> Development -> and CHECKED Allow mock locations.
After i did this, the GPS worked, and it picks up with less than 30 seconds YaY!!!
Excuse me for bothering you about this, Good thing it's working now.
I've read on other forums that there is some issues with emails and stuff, are you having that?
The Android email client FCs at startup with 1.7.1, yes. I've simply disabled it as I never use it anyway, preferring Gmail. I haven't found any other problems with 1.7.1 yet.
After playing around with the GPS. It works ONLY in one case:
If turn the GPS on and reboot the phone. I have to do this everytime I want to use the GPS...
Is it happening to anyone else or its only me? Any ideas???!!!
I falshed the latest Radio 63.18.55.06PU_6.35.15.14 and now everything is working very very very super good, even the GPS
Thank you all for your patience and support.
The ROM really Rocks now, to be honest with you guys, i've vener expected my hero to run fast and stable one day, but thanks to the super hero guys who made this possible.
1.5 has been giving me all sorts of grief over the weekend, FC's, Reboots, not coming out of sleep etc. Had to pull the battery twice. Only problem is, if I revert back to VR12 I lose the ability to use my Parrot car kit as it didn't like my Hero running VR12

Anyone having problems with Froyd 1.5.0, try changing the minimum CPU speed to 352 and see if that helps. I was getting a LOT of glitches and freezes at 123/176, and still had the occasional weird behaviour at 246.
At 352 (FWIW: interactive when screen on, on demand when screen off) it's rock solid for me.
I'm at a loss to figure out why theyre shipping the ROM with a default minimum cpu speed that doesnt work for some people's heros. Surely its better to ship in a known stable setup, and let people tweak from there?

Slightly off topic, I currently have an un rooted device due to a handset replacement, and my batterylife seems no better on the Orange ROM than it was on VR 12 or Froyd

I think 1.5 ships with a safe kernel, something like 350-580. So the lower values are only available to people who flash a new kernel and would be setting it up straight after flashing.
Oh and try conservative when the screen's off. It seems to be a new one that villain have made, like interactive, and they recommend it.
Rom: Elelinux 1.8
Kernel: flykernel10a-bfs (but since its kinda a little laggy in LP I will go with the non BFS later)
CPU (SetCpu): screen on 248-691 minmax
screen off 176-352 minmax
Sence 1.8 theme
i flashed 1.8 over my 1.7 it ran a little slower and for some reason launcher pro kept fc'ing so i just went back to 1.7, didn't notice anything different in 1.8
