GSM hero root from 1.5 to...
Can anyone plsss help me with my phone?? I was trying to upgrade the firmware and something got wrong. I was reading all these posts about rooting but iam not an expert at all and i would like a really simple and guiding process to install a recovery image (it seems that there is no recovery image installed) and root it so i can upgrade it..

We'll try.
What is your current firmware version (check "build number" in
Settings/About phone )
What has "gone wrong", exactly? Does the handset still boot?

Uninstall the AV app, at least for now. It is probably identifying the Linux exploit used to gain root as malware and preventing installation.

Yeah, a bit of background reading.
You need to either have the Android SDK plus the device USB drivers (from HTC Sync) installed, or use the files in the ZIP archive posted
here .

Sorry, those are the only two OS I use. If you install HTC Sync the drivers will be installed alongside it. You can safely remove Sync itself after connecting your handset and installing the drivers if you have no use for it.

Follow the instructions for installing if you don't already have a recovery on the page I linked to in post #9.

If it's a GSM Hero ROM then it's compatible. It's up to you whether you want to retain Android 2.1 (with or without HTC's Sense overlay), try out one of the mature 2.2 AOSP builds, or live on the bleeding edge with a 2.3 beta. Again, there's a link in the Rooting Guide to some of the popular ROMs.
