Ohh man you cant all say its good and easy, its tempting me to do it now! lol
the thing that puts me of is that I've installed lots of Apps, some of them paid. When i flash this new rom, wont it all be gone? Or is there a backup tool that will stick everything back and re-add all the apps I had installed? Or do i have to do it manually?
dont' worry you can reinstal your paid apps without being charged again. when you ahve the new rom loaded go to market/my downloads and they are all there marked "purchased" so when you redownload they are free.
i did this wth co pilot etc and had no probelms and wasn't charged again.
don't worry!!
Noticed that the clock doesn't 'flip' anymore when time changes. Is this an option? I hope it's an option...'cause I kind of like the 'flip'.
hi - the flip clock animation is gone to improve speed, sorry i also liked it when the time changed but hated the way it jumped when you unlocked the screen. anyways yes it's gone!
from what i read online they got rid of that specific animation as it was one of the things causing alot of lag on the home screen. i agree that i also liked it but the phone is so much faster now i am happy to live without it.
anyways enjoy!

Ha. Oh well. What about the other clocks? Do the hands not animate anymore as well? I'll assume that all the clocks' animations have been cut out. Just wish they could have made it an OPTION to turn on and off. Oh well... Thanks for the info.

Does upgrading the rom mean you have to lose your settings? I disable the touchflo stuff and set up links to contacts etc, when a revised rom comes out can I keep these settings and still flash it to the phone?

Dunno for sure with respect to the official HTC update but from what others have said, based on previous updates to other devices, it's likely that the system will be 'wiped' i.e. reset to factory defaults. It's certainly advised for a safe update to customised ROMs such as MCR2.x.
Then you may not need to wipe if/when updating in future, certainly so long as the build remains based on 2.xx.xxx.x ROMS. At least that's my interpretation based on posts elsewhere.

aw man - that really blows
its kindof a cool feature
i wonder if they would be able to make that "oooooone" concession to performance - just cuz (oh, idunno) - people LIKE it??
The Tiny hero Rom post on XDA sounded perfect but it still had social networking
Plus it's a port for the Dream - it won't flash to a Hero and may possibly even 'brick' it.
I'm sure someone will produce a similar ROM for the Hero in time. Right now the best you can do (as you're rooted) is delete the apps you have no need for yourself.
Yeah, I'm with you on this! Maybe someone can/will make a custom rom that has an option to switch it on and off.
If you're rooted (and feeling brave) you could try replacing HTCClockWidget.apk with an older version, to see if that gives you the 'flip' you desire. I've no idea if it would work, mind.
For tech lovers dreaming of a magical phone, HTC's 3rd Android Phone - the HTC Hero - seems poised to rescue the masses from mobile phone boredom. The design is a more sleek, sexy version of the HTC Dream and HTC Magic and both hardware and sof... Read More
