the thing that puts me of is that I've installed lots of Apps, some of them paid. When i flash this new rom, wont it all be gone? Or is there a backup tool that will stick everything back and re-add all the apps I had installed? Or do i have to do it manually?
dont' worry you can reinstal your paid apps without being charged again. when you ahve the new rom loaded go to market/my downloads and they are all there marked "purchased" so when you redownload they are free.
i did this wth co pilot etc and had no probelms and wasn't charged again.
don't worry!!

Noticed that the clock doesn't 'flip' anymore when time changes. Is this an option? I hope it's an option...'cause I kind of like the 'flip'.

from what i read online they got rid of that specific animation as it was one of the things causing alot of lag on the home screen. i agree that i also liked it but the phone is so much faster now i am happy to live without it.
anyways enjoy!

Ha. Oh well. What about the other clocks? Do the hands not animate anymore as well? I'll assume that all the clocks' animations have been cut out. Just wish they could have made it an OPTION to turn on and off. Oh well... Thanks for the info.

The seconds hands still move constantly, at least in the clock widgets I've checked.

Does upgrading the rom mean you have to lose your settings? I disable the touchflo stuff and set up links to contacts etc, when a revised rom comes out can I keep these settings and still flash it to the phone?

Dunno for sure with respect to the official HTC update but from what others have said, based on previous updates to other devices, it's likely that the system will be 'wiped' i.e. reset to factory defaults. It's certainly advised for a safe update to customised ROMs such as MCR2.x.

Thanks Slug, I'm on 2.1 at the moment. It's not bad, still a little slowdown from time to time, but way better then the 'out of the box' stuff.

Then you may not need to wipe if/when updating in future, certainly so long as the build remains based on 2.xx.xxx.x ROMS. At least that's my interpretation based on posts elsewhere.

Default Fast but still has chunks...

Hey hey! This is my first post so be nice! Im a bit of a Android noob but im fairly geeky and tech comes easy so just gimme the benefit of the doubt.

Rite now dats outa the way.

This is the issue. i love my new Hero...but!

I want a phone that does stuff i want it to and nothing i dont. I hate all the unnecessary apps and social networking tools.

The Tiny hero Rom post on XDA sounded perfect but it still had social networking.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=547707

Also since rooting i reckon that the "radio" def needs updating, rubbish signal, datas not to bad though. I dont know how to do this yet :-(

If anyone has suggestions or comments bring it on.
Thanks :-)
P.s soz if the link breaks any rules...

Plus it's a port for the Dream - it won't flash to a Hero and may possibly even 'brick' it.

I'm sure someone will produce a similar ROM for the Hero in time. Right now the best you can do (as you're rooted) is delete the apps you have no need for yourself.

Yeah, I'm with you on this! Maybe someone can/will make a custom rom that has an option to switch it on and off.

If you're rooted (and feeling brave) you could try replacing HTCClockWidget.apk with an older version, to see if that gives you the 'flip' you desire. I've no idea if it would work, mind.

Simple answer: no. This was one of, if not the, first cooked ROMs for the GSM handsets.

There is a list of custom ROMs for the Sprint device maintained here.
