Default htc hero connecting to vodafone internet

I am having real problems getting my hero to connect to vodafone internet. Vodafone have twice sent settings but my phone hasnt received them. I have tried some different APN settings that I found on the internet, but without success. Since the update I can't seem to find where you can check that the phone is enabled for 3g. Could anyone help me with this? Or connecting. I am tearing my hair out...

I have a moto Droid but gonna try to help you figure it out. On mine, 3g is enabled by default. As far as connecting to your wifi, go to menu>settings> wireless & networks - make sure that your wifi box has a check beside it. If it does, go into your wifi settings, scan to see if your phone can pick up the network your trying to pick up. If it does, press on it and select connect.
But as I said, I have a moto Droid, this method may not work on your hero. I hope this helps.
