[Mail Setting] 'delete mail on server' function on POP3
'delete mail on server' option to “delete from server” is a feature that will delete the email from the server when you delete the email from your device. If you chose to “leave a copy on server” when you delete an email from your device the email will not be deleted from the server, but will be in the trash folder.
the device sends the delete command to the server that moves the email in to the trash folder.
<It works for the following situations>
POP-->> ex.)Hotmail: POP3, Yahoo JP: POP
Don't want to go on my computer everyday and delete email I already deleted through my device.
Do not want having to read same email twice.
Yeah, always go with IMAP if your mail service supports it. Although, I haven't had any problems with POP3 not deleting...but not all servers are created equal.
Also, I use K9 which I find to be vastly superior to the stock Android Email app.
