Default Unofficial CM10.1 nightlies started

An individual going by the name Milaq has started a thread on XDA for the start of unofficial nightlies for the TouchPad. Remember, you install at your own risk.

Thanks Nevertells I was waiting for this! I do have a question though... Does anybody know if Milaq in fact actually help with the process and or the building of the Rom (CM10) from the beginning? When CM9 released their first Nightly's I made the mistake by not properly checking the guy out and what resources he had, pretty much destroyed my TP, ended up haveing to purchase another TP!

If anyone know's anything about this could you help me out it would be greatly appreciated !! Thanks!

Who was that? How does one go about properly checking one out? I've tried this build and it's solid. Here is a review I posted on XDA:

I dirty installed this build over the top of J.C. Sullins 0418 experimental Rom along with the 20130301 Gapps required for JB 4.2.2. All I did was clear Dalvik cache and the regular cache via CWM. Nothing from the CM10 install was lost. All my apps, their settings and data survived. First thing I looked for was the SD card check routine that runs for around 30 seconds after boot completes. I did not find the little SD card icon showing in the notifications area or see any text like "Preparing SD card or Checking for errors." One would have to assume that J.C. Sullins would not leave that out of his commits and he did FIX his 0418 build so one sees the SD card icon in the notifications area. Something worth looking into knowing how important the (internal/fake) SD card is to our TouchPad.

This Rom is smooth. Everything I checked works with the exception of the camera. That means the mic, audio, HW acceleration all work. I have not checked gyro or compass. Battery drain is low, like -4/-5mA drain while asleep. I have not experienced the recent apps issue that others have reported. Something is definitely wrong with the camera drivers. I've tried the Gallery camera and Ucam v.3.02, both of which work flawlessly on CM10, and after a few seconds I get a "Camera has stopped". A picture comes up, but is frozen. WiFi will not come back on after the TouchPad has been asleep for a while. I have to turn it off and back on to get it working. I did experience this same problem on several other 4.2.2 Roms I tried, so it's not just this build.

Hope the Milaq can get the Battery Stats code included in a future build. It is helpful in keeping track of what uses the battery the most. Yes, I could install some Play Store app, but Battery Stats does all I need without installing another app to the glut of apps I already have. I did try flashing J.C.'s CM10 battery stats patch, but that resulted in a boot loop.

I've played around with trying to get PIE working and so far have not been successful. I did have the opportunity to play with it on Shumash's Schizoid 4.2.2 build, but honestly, don't see it becoming a part of my daily use.

I have not experienced any FC'ed apps or operating system crashes so far. While others have reported some of this. I have never had this kind of problem all the way back to CM7. Lucky I guess.

So as of this writing, I can live with the WiFi issue and don't see anything that's a deal breaker, so this is going to stay installed as my daily driver.

I look forward to reading about what others are finding. IMHO, this Rom was worth waiting for. My hat is off to milaq, J.C. Sullins and Dorregary for getting this working on the TouchPad and to all the other developers around the world for helping with the development of CyanogenMod.

That's not my experience...

I upgraded over CM10 and on every boot I'd get an error about some app (don't recall which one) but when I opened Play Store, it would open for about a half second, then close without an error. I cleared cache and data for Play Store and same thing. So I factory reset and flashed the rom again and then Play store worked.

My impression is that's it's slow, recent apps doesn't work all the time and if the roms been up for awhile (~hour or more), I can't get into settings. I see an empty settings window that never completely loads. I'll give it awhile and try a newer build.

Regarding battery life, I had about -20 ma battery so I turned off location in settings. (I wasn't able to get into settings until I rebooted first. ) Then my battery use was higher, closer to -50 ma so again I had to reboot first, turned on location services and was close to -20 ma again. (I think it's time to flash my A6 chip again.)

FWIW, the original 10.1 build works much better for me.

Since you don't mention it, did you update Gapps? My understanding is you have to use the 20130301 Gapps in order for this version to work properly.

Wow, none of the problems you are having.(I got good Karma. ) I've had my TP on all day. Agree, time to flash A6. Come to think of it, I was seeing higher drain and A6 flash fixed it.

Yes, I used the recommended 2013 gApps, but my previous CM10 had inverted gApps, which I suspect could have been why I had trouble with Play Store after updating CM10, until I wiped data.

Install the goo manager app and use that to DL and flash.

If you choose to flash with Goo, it'll want to install the latest version of TWRP.

The files you DL with Goo will be in /sdcard/goomanager if you want to use your current recovery.

Not a good idea installing TWRP right now using GooManager. TWRP 2.5 has problems on the TouchPad. That is what will get installed if you use GooManager. Right now the safest version to use is 2.4.1.0 or lower which one can download the .img file from here:

Techerrata Downloads - Browsing tenderloin

Rename the file to uImage.TWRP and copy it to one's /boot folder using a file browser like Rom Toolbox Lite that has root access.
