My wife's new HTC chacha can connect to our home wifi but can't access the internet.

I've tried resetting the wifi settings in the phone and updating the router firmware but no joy yet.

Any good ideas would be appreciated.

My first thought is do you have a MAC filter enabled?

What happens when you try to browse the Internet? What, if any error message are you receiving.

Can you access the Internet through your providers data network? If so, download Terminal Emulator from the Market and run the command "ping google.com" (no quotes). Do you get anything like the image below?

i have the problem too, i am connected to the wireless network, but i cant get into internet, but it tells me webpage not availabe and it suggests me to make sure my device has a signal and data
i am not sure if i have a data or not! i dont even know how to check it!
please help!

i just got a chacha and it worked well during the first week. i was able to connect to my campus' wifi network but now it can't, even though the signal is very strong! everytime i turn on wifi, it gets connected to the network for like 1 sec and gets disconnected. anyone has any idea why this is happening?? pls help!

yep, i have the same problem.
i think the HTC chacha has the same problem as the hero.
then, you can see the speed, the IP, everything
but the only thing is.. when you start the browser or android market (anything dat runs on internet) doesn't work.

help help help !

I have a HTC Velocity 4G and it connected fine to the router but did not connect or route to the internet. This was perplexing because at the same time the apple iphone I had easily connected and routed to the internet with the identical setup. What fixed the problem was being able to manually enter IP settings, ie a static IP address, etc into the HTC. Also for the DNS I used the public address of my ISP (any public DNS address should work). After that I powered off the phone and restarted and the browsing just hummed along. Why I needed to do this with the HTC and not the iphone - I'm not sure

Hi,
I just bought my first smartphone (are they still called that?); it's an htc incredible S. Anyway, I got it yesterday and used the wifi at a restaurant today just fine. Anyway, I get home, and I turn on wifi, enter my password, and it connects to my router.
I assumed that this was all I would have to do, but noooo. I couldn't go on the internet, and I couldn't go into the android market. wtf htc. I scoured these threads and I didn't really see any easy fixes (ie downloading apps/widgets, changing all these "fancy" settings).
Anyway, what I did was I remembered that under settings>wireless & networks>wifi settings, there is a wi fi protected setup option (3rd on the list). I didn't/don't really know what that means, but I clicked it and it instructed me to hold down the wifi button on my router for 5 seconds and voila– that solved my internet problem.
Now, I don't know if I have to do this FOR ALL THE ROUTERS i encounter, but it's a quick fix nonetheless.
I hope this works for the frustrated/perplexed out there.
Let me know if it does.

i have got a htc chacha and it works great but now for some reason i connect to wifi and it connects for 1 or 2 mins and then the wifi signal will be in the notifacation bar but internet will not work

help!
