Cry How can I get my college email to work on my Desire HD?

They have instructions for iphone and blackberry but not HTC..
I don't even think they know what a HTC is..
Here are the instructions they give for iphone:
• Add Account
• Other
• Add Mail Account
Name – enter your name
Address - fill this in (your 5 digit ID@[college name].ac.uk)
Password – enter the password you use to log on to college computers
Description – will automatically be filled in as [college name].ac.uk
• Next
Host Name – buzz.[college name].ac.uk
User Name – enter your 5 digit ID
Password – again enter the password you use to log on to college computers
(same in both Incoming Mail Server and Outgoing Mail Server)
• Next (it will say Verifying, then say it cannot connect using SSL)
• Yes
• Save (it will say Configuring Sync, then Configured Sync)

so I tried this on my Desire HD, and nothing. Doesn't work. And I don't really want to use gmail.
I'd rather use the "mail" app that comes on the phone.
(My college use Outlook by the way)
Thanks!

Could you provide more information as to the steps you're taking to try to follow their procedure? Just saying you tried it doesn't really tell us anything, sorry...

Sorry!
Well I tried to follow the steps they gave for the ipod! but it's completely different.
I'm just completely stumped.
I haven;t taken any steps really because I have no idea how to do it..

Instructions for synchronizing Outlook (email, contacts, & calendar) with Android through a Hotmail/MSN-Mail/Live-Mail account are here.

Any contact or calendar items will have to be on your Hotmail/MSN/Live account and will not be synchronized with Gmail (which is arguably a good thing) or be searchable with Google Voice Search (which is not a good thing since it works better than the built in voice dialer) but you can still use those contacts to make phone calls, send emails, navigate, etc.

The caveat is that is that you need to keep your Outlook contacts and calendar events on a Hotmail/MSN/Live account in Outlook.

or just get it all forwarded to your gmail account....and change the outgoing address to your school email.............

I know it took me a good month to figure out the "correct" way to set it up on my BB (we use OWA)
