New Android Market...
So I was just over @ XDA and came across a thread about the "new" market... [App]New Android Market 3.3.11 - xda-developers - has anyone got this? I think that the new features sound quite good
It does look good, I'm looking forward to downloading it.
Is anyone able to check if it is signed by Google? It's sometimes hard to trust something like the market from a third party source
EDIT: don't worry, have seen confirmation of it being signed. Have just been trying it out and it's great, I like the smaller font and its so much smoother than the previous build I had. I wont be using the default auto update as I like to know what I'm updating

Glad to see that it's a positive reaction! I know what you mean about the auto update... the ting is, even if apps are set to auto update, if the permissions for the app change, you have to manually allow it... I think it means that they will be set to auto update as standard (as long as permissions don't change)
Update - it was working fine earlier, but unfortunately now everytime I try to go to my apps it force closes. I can access everything else in the market fine. I have cleared the cache etc and will give it a try again later
i ran this for about 3 weeks before removing the update again. i found it crashed out quite alot, and also sat "loading" until the cache was cleared. i think i will wait for the official release.

I don't believe this is the same update - this only popped up a few days ago, as far as I'm aware.

I gave it a spin yesterday, It installed fine, loaded and looks good. However, for me, when i tried to update one app, it stayed in an "updating" mode... I had to finally cancel/navigate away.
Then, i went to settings so to "uncheck" all auto-updates (I do not like my apps updating automatically, sometimes updated versions remove some features i want to keep)... Next thing i know... i got a ton of downloading going on ..ALL apps that had an update was dowloading.. I hand to quickly stop each one individually, roll back to my previous versions for each app.. removed the new market.

Agreed or the update breaks them. Extended Controls is a perfect example, EVERY time that's updated, it appears to break the 3G/APN toggle. I've ended up having to use TB to downgrade to an older version and remove its market links. Shame, because it's a pretty handy app.

Yes, very true. Also, I have a couple apps that , when updated, gets bumped from its free full-verison or beta version to a time-limited or reduced function version where you have to buy it to get back all the features you are using...
Auto Update is good in some cases but , if I rather keep an older function, i just rather turn auto-update off on all so to have time to evaluate.
I dont know why the new market wouldnt keep the 'uncheck' status... It seem to revert back to auto update everything a few minutes after i manually rolled back and reset "uncheck".. Could just be my isolated experience.
I'm not sure if its due to installing the new market, but since yesterday evening (a few hours after I installed it) my phone has become insanely slow and constantly lags trying to do anything. Its like having the stock sense rom back it more than likely is the market that is causing this

Ended up having to uninstall the updates, it got so bad that my phone had nearly completely frozen and pressing on the screen would take ~30 seconds to register. Back to the older build now, which is slow as well I was looking forward to this new market and it all started so well
Worked fine for a day and then this evening my 3G etc stopped working, resetting the phone and everything wouldn't get it back, uninstalled the updates to market and it came back instantly, will be waiting for the official one now, unless that breaks it too.
i have a stock phone, i purchased it outright so its unbranded and unlocked. kinda odd how my market place is so old. how would i get it to check for updates of the market app?
i always had issues with new market apps. Programs that I search for never come up or if i do find a program like Iris or Vlingo it'll tell me that it's not compatible with my phone. I always revert back to v2.3.6 and i'll find the apps i am looking for, plus i was able to download Vlingo and Iris
Just got the new market pushed OTA. I found it a bit slow, Im on full 3G area and have quite a lot of long loadings. I wonder if it's the market or the device itself.

My market self updated after I updated some native apps on the mobile through the market itself.

Ive manually updated the market a week ago. Rolled back because I couldnt stop my apps from auto updating.. The new market copy I used would not keep my settings where I unchecked all.
Today, the market auto upgraded and it now holds my settings.. I see no lag in performance on my device.
Yeah mine is now 3.3.11. One minute it was on the old market, next minute I unlocked my screen and the new one was there didn't even notice it update, I didn't have any notifications come up

I'm still on 2.3.4, how does the update process work, how come I'm so far out of date?
2.3.4, thats a very good question.. Aside from not knowing what phone and android version you have, try going to the link in message#1 of this thread, youncan see if your device will at least download the file from where the link directs you.
Hope that helps.
