I live in Norway and updated my android system to 2.3.5 and sense to 3.0 about a week ago. Everything looks better but I can't receive phone calls when the screen is not on. When I answer I get an error box which I have to close before having tounlock the sim card again. When I hang up instead of answering the phone it just keeps on ringing for several minutes and you can't do anything while this is going on, not even turn of the phone or restart it. After googling a bit it seems like this problem is somehow connected to the callers facebook accounts. There are a lot of people having the exactly same problem as me and it is unbelievable that the update was releasesd with such a huge error. I also lost the application for the gps navigation system (bilpanel/carpanel?) which I had payed for. This is an app that was on the phone when I bought it a year ago. I can't find the app on android market. I hope for a new update fix quickly. Does anybody here know anything more about this?

Hi Petur,

I've had Sense 3.0 on my DHD since December 8th and I'm yet to experience any of the issues you are having.

When you updated, was it an official update or is your phone rooted and you used a custom rom? I don't really know what to suggest otherwise.

Maybe I've just been incredibly lucky.

Hi

Give it a few more days.. the update is currently rolling out across Western Europe so a lot of the Mods will be having a play and I'm sure, as with Gingerbread, threads will start appearing about "fixes" for any issues found.

Yesterday I upgraded my DHD (unbranded but on Orange) without problems as such, but the 'Car Panel' is gone. Looks like it's no longer with us, it's not in the market either.

Hi Mike - there is a user suffering from the same issue as you... he has a thread going on the issue and has had an answer or two... check this out 2.3.5 broke Car Mode

I updated mine late on Monday night and it caused nothing but problems.

I let it go about its business alone, but once the update had been applied the phone kept restarting every few minutes. Just as it had finished starting up and was about to become useable it would switch off and make the HTC start up jingle sound.

When you are trying to sleep at 2am and have to get up at 6am this is a very annoying sound!! Eventually had to take the battery out which menat I was late to work as I had no alarm clock!

Anyway, it continued to do this even after taking the battery out for the remainder of the night so when I got to work the only option left was a factory reset.

This has fixed the problem, but the problem shouldn't have been there in the first place, and I shouldn't have had to spend almost a day resetting up my phone with downloading apps and logging into apps I had long forgotten the passwords for.

Also, the "Make more space" option in the Storage menu of the settings menu doesn't work. When I try to transfers apps to the SD card it tells me there is not enough space available, but I have 2.45GB free on a 16GB card. I've had to download an A2SD app from the market which makes the process slower as you have to move each app individually.

Phone is running a little slower now I've finally almost got it where I want it, but I've got a few apps that just won't work at all:

I use an alarm clock called Early Bird Alarm as its the only one I can find which will allow you to swtich it off by scanning a QR code (this basically means I am forced to get out of bed to go to another room in the house to take a photo of a QR I've got blu-tacked to the wall). Keeps force closing.

Facebook has had some FC issues, but that could just be because the offical FB app is shite.

Updated over my mobile data connection (planned to wait till I got home for wifi but got bored at work )

Had no issues at all, phone runs a lot faster/smoother than it did, I'm happy.

Does anyone know when this is planned to come to TELUS in Canada? And if there's any info about battery life or performance, I'd love to hear it.

I have the same problem as the OP, I am on T-Mobile.. I updated on the 21st, and since then I can't receive my calls when in standby mode...it keeps force closing and telling me to send an error report. It also rings silent too, so I have been missing calls. Annoying!

Updated and got repeated reboots every 5 mins. Had to do a factory reset and took the last 2 days to get back everything in working order.
Q: can't seem to sync all my contacts and reconcile with their names. Any ideas?

Removing your facebook account, then re adding apparently sorts this.

Sync them with the gmail account or facebook?

Reboot problems seems to be coming from the /.android_secure folder on the sdcard. remove it and the reboots hopefully should disappear. All apps installed ont he SD card will need to be reinstalled again plus the data will disappear... sorry about that.

I'd love an answer to this as well. I've checked the TELUS website and the only "upgrade" they have is the upgrade to Gingerbread from several months ago.

UK sim free updated a week ago. No problems what so ever, phone is even better I shall be in no rush to change it. I am well pleased with HTC Watch, its great for long journeys and the rent a film for 49p special offer is very welcome.

Guys just a quick idea, ensure your contacts are backed up in the cloud somewhere with Google as an example. Backup your SMS, and your apps should be stored on the market for quick download, if you have a lot of free apps make a list and use the market browser to find and download them quicker then do a factory reset. Also backup all your SD card data to the PC and format the card to FAT32 on your PC then restore all the folders apart from those beginning with a period (.) lol

We custom ROM users tend to do full wipes between changes of ROM or even updates to ensure we get the cleanest install possible to ensure minor issues don't crop up relating to data being left behind that could interfere with its operation.

Probably a good idea to allow the OTA update to hit the ground running so to speak.

Also allows you to see if any particular apps cause issues due to compatibility with the update as you putting them back one by one. If the only updating you do is when there is an OTA update it might seem a big deal but for peace of mind and smoother operation its worth it every once in a while.

Kinda tired so hope that made sense.

The update bricked my phone and I had to return it to HTC to be fixed. Very quick return despite bank holiday new years weekend. Not sure if there's anything I could have done to avoid it.

Sorry about that. The unfortunate thing with rollouts of this size is that there will always be some cases of things failing miserably.

At least they got your phone back to you promptly (turnaround was over 6 weeks at one point) and hopefully you've not lost too much data.

I'm having the same problem as peturj.

Whenever I answer a call of a number that is associated to a facebook account the phone application stops working and I have to force close it but I can still answer numbers that are not associated to a facebook account.

Has there been a fix for this yet?

Thanks

Hi Phosphine, generally the fix is unlinking your facebook account from the phone, then linking it again. Have you tried that?

It's been a few weeks now since we got the update so plenty of time for it to "settle down" and the biggest concern I have is with the battery life after this update.

With 3g off I could easily get around 36hrs, occasionally switching it on and checking email/browsing web and a couple of games of fruit ninja is get about 18-20 hrs.

Since update, with 3g off and no usage during the day, battery is gone in 10hrs. With a little browsing and games (no more than before update) I get 6-7 hrs usage

Thoroughly disappointed in my DHD performance since the update

Default So SLOW and dropping signal

Very disappointed with update, at first all seemed OK then after 2 or 3 days it started to go wrong. it started to slow down, opening camera would take about 30 seconds and taking a picture would take as long as opening it, scrolling through the gallery, the apps and even between each of the home pages takes so long you give up on it. Then it started to loose connection to the network no Internet or calls I'm on the 3 network in the UK, I have to either turn off mobile connection or if that doesn't work switch it off and reboot it is all very frustrating. Any ideas anyone??????????????

Default DHD update sense 3

The new update causing a problems in most of phone like frequent restarts and others. I recommend to format the device and the SD card before installing the update and after it. Restoring the applications should be directly from the market not not from APPLICATION BACKUP because some applications are not compatible with the update. (MY personal experiance)(Middle East User)

Mine has the reboot glitch too. Not impressed. REALLY NOT interested in resetting or completely undoing all the apps and tweaks - there HAS to be a fix.

The phone really bogs down right before rebooting, like some process is hanging the system and causing it to reboot in an attempt to recover - there must be a log somewhere showing what's hanging up.

So long as your apps data is stored on the sd card you'll be fine. Use the likes of SMS backup for your messages, have all contacts stored with Google and do the factory reset of your phone.

Then prior to formating your SD card move all the info to your PC and format the card, restoring only the folders without a . at the beginning of them and making sure LOST-DIR is also not put back (all of those folders will be restored automagically when you next boot anyhow).

The unfortunate situation is that its either that or live with the phone as is.

Okay, I'm reading elsewhere that simply deleting the .android_secure folder on the SD card fixes this... but with the loss of all app data. Again, REALLY not down with that (I DO NOT want to redo all my Angry Birds Seasons and RIO levels - I've diligently worked up to all three stars and golden eggs already!)

There HAS to be some way to determine exactly where the problem lies, and fix that without resulting to a "scorched earth" solution.

Alright, I plugged the SD card into the computer, RENAMED the .android_secure folder... all running fine, so I plugged the phone into the computer, set it to Disk Mode... moved some of the contents from the renamed folder into the new .android_secure... switched back to Charge Only... still running fine, apps are still there, even my Angry Birds scores are intact

So I'm moving a little bit at a time, going back and forth... eventually will probably move something that will cause the reboots again, but at least then I'll know what was causing the problem.

Edit: and so far, it appears that both the Canucks app, and the Google Shopper app, were causing problems - if either or both are moved back to the .android_secure folder, the phone slows, freezes, and reboots after a few minutes. Remove both, and it appears to be stable.

I have a few older ones to test yet, but those two are definitely among the culprits.

Edit 2: Gah, nope, there's something else too... still working on it. *sigh*

My only problems with the update are the HTC Calendar widget (4 x 1 next appointment) and People widget (1 x 4) randomly reload. Sometimes the next appointment widget seems to skip one appointment.
