Oh dear, bust screen!
Has anyone here replaced their glass front screen? Reason being after many mobile phones over the years I managed to bust mine today. Dropped out my pocket onto a floor. The glass is broke but is still held together by the screen protector. It all appears to still be working 100%, still touch responsive over the cracked part. I've looked at how to replace it on various websites etc. Apart from them does anyone who has done this got any tips and a decent supplier?

Nope, never took any insurance out with it and it's not covered by the warranty either since I've had it since the day was released on Vodafone. Looking at better videos I think getting the digitizer with LCD screen maybe the best bit as the hard part is done that way.

I will but I think it will cost me more in excess than the actual phone repair itself. Anyway I've emailed a guy on eBay that do the front glass screen and digitizer together. I'm not scared of doing the repair as I do fix laptops, computers in my spare time so the smartphone to me is like a mini laptop.

Well I started repairing my trusty DHD yesterday. The actual disassembly is quite easy as most of it it held together with small torx screws whilst certain things like the speaker, receiver & vibrator are just held in and pop out easily. Now the hard thing is the actual removal of the front screen/digitizer. It's held on with some really sticky glue/tape, but with a guitar pick once you get in its fairly easy. The bit that went wrong it trying to get the old ribbon out of the back on the LCD screen. The LCD screen is held in with some mighty tough tape. After heating it up with a hairdryer it finally came out, and in one piece but on trying the new digitizer connected up to the LCD and motherboard the LCD was no good. It did work but had vertical lines over it so no good. I didn't expect anything less really. So new LCD ordered and hopefully all will good. Putting the LCD back into the metal chassis is easy mind, just have to stick it back in. Advice I would give it don't bother just replacing the glass/digitizer, replace the whole display. There's no way i can see how you can get the LCD out without damaging it. If it was designed better you could just pop out the digitizer ribbon and feed the new one in underneath the LCD screen. Anyway that's all for now. Fecking hate using the old Nokia N70.

Update.....Well my replacement LCD screen came today and I hooked it up to the motherboard just to test it really as some can get damaged in transit (as they say) and the DHD lives to fight another day! Now I just have to put it all back together in the case. If it wasn't for waiting for parts I'd be done by now. If anyone needs to fix their DHD then let me know as their is a few hints and tips I can give as in replacing the LCD/Digitizer etc.

Well...it's all back together and kinda working. Screen, touch and main functions are working ok but for some reason the camera just goes black. Also noticed the charge LED doesn't work or the lights at the bottom for the home/menu/back/search. I guess after the drop it had it did more damage then just the bust screen.

I had another go at fixing the camera today and I think it was down to 3 torx screws being a little tight so now everything works as it should apart from the charging/notification light. I read other posts on saying how the camera, headphone socket and notification light seem to be linked somehow but the headphone socket works ok so tbh I'm not that bothered about a little LED!
