Mad Desire S with VW factory bluetooth handsfree

Anyone had any issues with Gingerbread 2.3.3 and Volkswagen factory-fitted RNS 510 bluetooth handsfree setup on a Tiguan?

I can occasionally get the phone to connect to the car and perhaps make/receive one or two calls, then it tries to play music from the phone via the RNS510 (even when I am trying to listen to the radio) and then dies and won't re-connect with the car, sometimes for a day or two.

I've been advised to delete the phone book facility - but can't!

I'm assuming some software/hardware incompatibility, but unsure if it is the phone or the car, as I had similar problems with an early Desire and a five year-old Audi A4 with bluetooth prep.

Any help would be appreciated!

I have a '08 S3 with the factory BT and it works just fine with my Desire S. They won't be the exact same BT modules but they should be similar.

The BT module sits under the passenger seat and syncs with the phone. It then sends the info over CANBus to the head unit.

I know this doesn't solve your issue but it may help you to understand how it works at least.
