Default Desire S takes a long time to start up after 2.3.5 update

I updated my Desire S to 2.3.5/Sense 3.0 yesterday, and i have noticed my phone takes a lot longer to start up now, is this normal? And is there someway to fix this?
In a related matter, does anyone else find that sometimes dropping the phone into, say, your pocket, will suddenly turn off the phone, like the battery doesnt have a good connection? I've noticed its only on the top of the phone, if i drop it bottom first it never happens. I mention this as this was how i noticed the long start up time, my phone managed to turn itself off and i stood there for about 5 minutes waiting for it to turn back on.
