You got a link for that please? I googled and downloaded one of that name but it certainly doesn't seem that good.
I'd have thought getting a dvd -> divX free app would have been straightforward these days, but i'm doing loads of googling and not found anything that impressive yet.
there ya go, i'm not sure an "app" is really the way to go regarding dvd conversion, the process is quite processor hungry and sometimes time consuming depending on the length of the movie, far better to convert the files on your PC and then transfer the resulting AVI file to your phone.
also bear in mind most DVD's are dual layer thesedays meaning the movie can be up to 8GB, do you really want to put a file that huge on your phone.
regarding the above program, i'm sure there are many similar, perhaps better programs out there, i havent searched extensively for them simply because this one works for me. but it does what it says on the tin.

saw this posted on a diff site the other day, but after reading the comments on this thread and those of you who are happy i've just installed it and i'm loving it. like many of you my divx folder is quite large lol. im so impressed with this app i cant believe it works
Just found the perfect divx player for my phone. When the full version cames out I'll be buying it for sure.the new public beta in quality better in quality than the first better. Finally a quality divx player is out for Android.
i have been playing with this new player for a while, and having "tryed" to use yxplayer before, it, this just blows yx out of the water. Its just an allround better player, and to hear that its only in beta too, is even better, as there are hopefully alot more improvements to come i am using a Desire btw...
This rockplayer really rocks...its better then the stock HTC player which having audio sync issue!! Love it! Thanks for recommending this player...love u all.
where, what file, are you storing your movies on sd card ?
So rock player "finds" them?
so just place your film on the SD card (i placed mine within the DCIM->Media folder) and then when you launch RockPlayer it shows you all your files on the SD card and you just browse to your film then click on the film.
It will take about a second or 2 to load the film but then you're in!
Works like a charm, one of the best things i've seen. Got to go away on business this week so taking Tenacious D - Complete Masterworks 2 and Michael Moore - Capitalism to watch!
this app is great but my rockplayer seems to play the movie from the start each time i open the file. it doesn't remember where i last watched it to. is there some setting i haven't set right?
update: i have uninstalled the app and then reinstalled it and now it works perfectly.

The full, non beta version is in the market place today.
Its add supported, but you can buy an unlock that removes the ads.
The ads also disapear if you tap the screen :0)
You have to go into settings and untick the box 'show only media files' before it sees
.m4v files and some other formats, but it still plays them ok once you have done this.
Thats the homepage with which version for which device & FAQ etc, the version CarsnGadgets said is correct for desire. Have also purchased full version, worth it as I've had enough use from the leaked beta already hope they continue to support & improve this awesome app.

My problem with Rockplayer is that the mp4 files that I record on my Sandisk V-mate play with the sound out of sync, which is a shame because Rockplayer plays them at the correct aspect ratio, unlike the Desire's default ap. The default ap plays them without the sync issue, however.
I saw a Universal Rock player on the market, but this version , for me on my desire, has no liking for mkv files at all. Gone back to RockPlayer_1.0.31_v7 , no bother with that .
Ok so I downloaded this of the marketplace and every time I try to play a .avi file it does not play. Just reverts back to try/buy/activate screen. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
