Unhappy My phone never enters sleep or standby mode

Hi i just got a htc desire 5days ago i moved over from a iPhone 3G. I have a big problem with it.

Battery lasts for about 4-5h i have read forums and googeld for 2 days now.

So far i changed my Background to a black one i made wifi turn off after 15min no Bluetooth etc

I think the problem is that my phone never goes in to sleep mode.when i go setting > about phone > battery the up time and awake time is the same.

I downloaded advance task killer but the only program i can see running is Smart Keyboard Pro and Amazon. I kill amazon and it stays dead for sometime i cant kill smart keyboard pro it restarts it self straight away.

I have had the phone on charge for about 6h now and the battery seams stuck half way and don't relay increase or its increasing very slowly.

does any one know what could be going on ?

thankfull for any help.

regards

Nik

In the 5 days you've had your phone, has it always been like this? Or just since you installed Smart Keyboard Pro?

i thought leaving wifi on and synching every half hour overnight would mean the phone was not sleeping for maybe 20 mins total during the night, just to sync, but mine appears to never actually go to sleep too. uptime and awaketime almost identical.

Mine was fine.
Then I installed Swype and had similar behavior, never entered sleep or standby mode.
As simple as it sounds, a power off, power on solved the issue for me...

I have read about some people having the same problem, it turned out it was the calendar not letting the phone sleep. I am afraid I can't remember the solution but if you search on here and xda for Sleep and calendar I am sure you will turn something up.

Battery Issues, Uptime = Awake, Google Calendar - xda-developers

I haven't read it through but it might help.

there is a bug that some people experience where Calendar is listed with a very high partial wake, for a possible solution to this problem, try this thread:
-link-

(btw, it's not actually the calendar, some apps do not identify themselves properly)

Its been this way from day one. last night i did a factory reset and installed all apps again and it worked untill about 4h ago when battery time and wake time was the same and charging it takes forever. I think im going to try to return this phone to carphonewarehouse and get my contract reversed. I dont have time or patients to experiment and have my phone dead after 4h.

Then you need to look for the app causing the issue.
