So, what are the other ways to pay?!

I used my Visa Debit card to buy an app.

I was charged the cost of the app, as well as a conversion fee by my bank because it was in dollars.

I am UK based so Bank Accounts in Sterling...

Way around this? Or solution?

I have exactly the same problem so avoid apps in anything but GBP. Any solutions out there?

Complain on the Google pages and hope they switch to local currencies. Only way around I have found is to use my Mastercard instead :-/

Yeh it's an irritation indeed, as is not being able to use a debit card.

On my credit card they appear like this:

I dont get any extra charges though.

I think it depends on the policy of your card provider. Websites such as moneysavingexpert will tell you which ones are best to use for foreign currency transactions (if you want to go to the trouble of getting a new card).

ive tried using my debit card and it just keeps saying server error or something. Wen choosing payment type it only shows credit card though.

Its really annoying do i have to have a credit card? or am i being brainless?

This is my point too. It won't give me the option to use a debit card and if I try anyway it doesn't work.

Would be interested to know which banks do and which don't charge.

£1.50 charge on a $0.99 item is completely unacceptable!

i haven't seen paypal introduced? would make a lot of sense, i'd be more inclined to get a few paid apps from the market that i have my eye on if i could pay through paypal..

As I mentioned above you can find some of this information on MoneySavingExpert (look under cheap travel money).

Taken from there "A Penalty for Spending (Debit Cards only). Rather sadly, a few card providers have decided to take profiteering from holidaymakers up a level. Spend on a Halifax, IF, RBS, NatWest or Lloyds TSB debit card and you'll pay a fee each and every time, e.g. Halifax adds £1.50 per transaction".

nope im with abbey doesnt list anything but credit crds pypl would be much better for me also. though i wouldnt mind paying through t mobile but how would i go bout choosing this as n option when buying n app from the market place?
