Before you do anything, go to Settings>About phone>Software information and post the Software version on your phone

Defo unbranded so make sure you've got the RUU in case you ever need to unroot for warranty purposes

Yes its what's on your phone currently.

There are benefits to rooting but if you don't need to root right now, I'd hold off for a while

Nope, if you have a RUU and a goldcard and you've read SUroot's FAQ you'll be fine. You need to flash a custom recovery before you can do a Nandroid backup.

i've read the faq, but it states

"Settings>About phone. We need to check if your software is the ARA build (ARA 2.xx.415.x)"

mine is 405 so what do i do? do i use UnrEVOked 3.21

what about creating a recovery?

thanks..

Ok, first off you don't need to create a recovery, unrEVOked takes care of all that. Second you should still be fine, I believe 405 is just a unbranded english version of the ARA build.

Have you read the bit about pvt4 and erase size? Very important. This dictates which recovery you use.

Are you reading the faq or the guide? Forget the guide for now. Read the faq over and over. It's all in there

In regards to creating a recovery? Yep thats correct. UnrEVOked puts an existing recovery on for you. But if You're PVT4 with erase size 40,000 you have to manually download AmonRA 2.0.1 instead and let unrEVOked use that
