Unhappy scratched screen PROTECTOR

I'm using a HTC Desire with a screen protector.

And there's now an ugly scratch on the screen PROTECTOR.
The screen is completely clear though.

It was quite an expensive one, so is there a way to remove scratches from the PROTECTOR?

Or should I just throw it away and get a new one?

Screen protectors are sacraficial, giving up their wafer thin life so that your screen may live a little longer unblemished, bin it, replace it or don't.

I mostly don;t use them, and by mostly I mean ever.

I'd use one in hindsight. Its too loate now as I do have a little scratch which collects dust, meaning the protector will not work properly.
